Still, there remains a belief with some observers that the Dallas Cowboys may be a surprise 2025 contender. By the time their matchup with the Detroit Lions is played, we will know just what the Cowboys are. Both teams will have hosted the Thanksgiving Day games the week before. Detroit should be in the stretch drive towards the playoffs and a potential NFC North title. Yet Dallas could be in the hunt for a wild-card spot if Brian Schottenheimer can rally them. Due to injuries in 2024, Dallas lost its NFL season.

Following the traditional Thanksgiving feast of football, the NFL gets back to normal in Week 14. Starting with the Amazon Thursday night online wagering Matchup between the Detroit Lions and Dallas Cowboys.
In the early Sunday window, the oldest rivalry in the NFL will be renewed when the Green Bay Packers host the Chicago Bears. Although this rivalry dates back to the founding of the NFL, there has been an interesting quirk regarding the matchup. In most NFL betting odds seasons, when either the Packers or Bears are favored, the other team is the underdog.
Specifically, the one recent exception was in the 2010 season, when the Bears lost to the Packers in the NFC championship game. It could be the case again this year. But if the Bears improve under new head coach Ben Johnson, this game may matter. The Packers may not be as good as expected based on their playoff flop last year. Regardless, the Bears and Packers have a great history and are legacy franchises with large national fan and gambler interest.
Speaking of rivalries, another great one will be renewed from the AFC North when the Baltimore Ravens host the Pittsburgh Steelers. Previously, the Steelers and Ravens annually fought for the highest of stakes. Concurrently, the Ravens are knocking on the Super Bowl door while the Steelers are meekly limping into the playoffs as a wild-card team. By the time this game is played, we will know who the quarterback is for the Steelers and if that quarterback is making a positive impact to elevate the franchise.
Meanwhile, in the late afternoon window, the Buffalo Bills will host the Cincinnati Bengals in a matchup that could serve as a potential playoff preview. Cincinnati’s season will hinge on whether or not quarterback Joe Burrow can stay healthy. Burrow missed a good chunk of the 2024 season, and the Bengals fell far behind. Yet they rallied to nearly make the playoffs after Burrow returned.
