Dallas Cowboys Team Overview

Last year, Dallas went 12-5 in 2022. As a result, they finished two games behind the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC East. The Cowboys made the online wagering playoffs and won one game. Finally, Dallas was ousted by the San Francisco 49ers for a 2nd straight year.

Late on the past few seasons, the Cowboys have been good but not good enough. They have made it to the playoffs in the last two seasons. However, they have been unable to get past the Divisional Round.

Overall, Dak Prescott has been fine. But he needs to be better if they want this team to be elite. Prescott struggles with turnovers. But they have a strong receiving core this season. In addition to CeeDee Lamb and Michael Gallup, they traded for Brandin Cooks, a sold WR2 option. Also, the Cowboys have a strong defense. So this could be the year they make a run in the playoffs.

New York Giants Team Overview

Last season, the Giants lost to Dallas twice. However, both games were 1-possession affairs. New York lost just five other regular-season games. In sum, Big Blue went 9-7-1 overall and qualified for the playoffs for the 1st time since 2016.

At the onset, the Giants and gamblers are expecting more improvement. The G-Men feel like a new team with Brian Daboll as head coach. They made a major trade this offseason by adding Darren Waller through a trade with the Las Vegas Raiders.

QB Daniel Jones has looked better since Daboll took over. Naturally, that was expected. Given his success with Josh Allen in Buffalo. Also, the Giants have an underrated defense. They’re one of the more underrated teams in the NFL this year.

To summarize, Dallas leads the all-time series 73-47-2. Including one postseason loss. The Cowboys have won 4 meetings in a row and 11 of the last 12 matchups. Since 2017, Dallas is 5-1 in New York. Against the spread, the Cowboys and Giants split their games in 2022. And they have split the last 6 Pro Football Bets meetings. The Over is 3-1 across the last 4.

Of course, everybody will probably be betting on “America’s Team” in this matchup. But sharps are going the other way. The Giants have been underdogs since Daboll took over. And they’ve continued to prove people wrong. They will be in front of the home crowd and should get a win to start the year.

As mentioned earlier, Dallas has a tough defense. But with Giants like Saquon Barkley and Darren Waller as weapons this year, the Cowboys will have their hands full.
