NFL Preseason – Seattle at San Diego

December 1, 2010 NFL Football

NFL Network will be televising the late game on Saturday in preseason action as the San Diego Chargers host the Seattle Seahawks.

The Chargers opened up as a solid online NFL betting favorite in this game but the line has dropped all week.  San Diego is now just a three-point favorite in NFL football betting with a total of 36.

The Seahawks are expected to be vastly improved this season under new head coach Jim Mora Jr.  He takes over from the retired Mike Holmgren and many people are looking at Seattle to make a huge jump in the standings this year.  One of the main reasons is that the Seahawks have quarterback Matt Hasselbeck healthy.  It also helps that they have a top notch receiver now in T.J. Houshmandzadeh.  In this online NFL betting preseason matchup it is important to remember that the Seahawks have a solid backup quarterback behind Hasselbeck in Seneca Wallace who started quite a few games last year.  The third string quarterback battle will be between Jeff Rowe and rookie Mike Teel.

The Chargers are led on offense by Phillip Rivers and LaDainian Tomlinson. The Chargers probably have the better quarterback rotation for this online NFL betting matchup since behind Phillips will be Billy Volek and Charlie Whitehurst and they both have experience. San Diego head coach Norv Turner does want to see a lot of young players on Saturday and that could be why the line is moving toward Seattle.  “You want your veteran players to get off to a good start, but certainly the key for us is we’ve got a lot of decisions to make over the next month with our young players,” Turner said.  “We need to find out the guys who can transfer what we’ve been working on for the last three weeks on the practice field, transfer it over to the playing field in a real game.”

The Chargers did not sell out this game before the NFL’s 72 hour blackout rule which means fans in San Diego will not be able to watch this game. That does not affect anyone else though since the NFL Network is carrying the game.

This preseason matchup on Saturday night could be a good one with both teams having solid offenses and depth in their quarterback rotations.  It is nice way to end a busy day of preseason online NFL betting.
