The Dallas Cowboys first string offense has not played well in the preseason and there is a chance they could actually play again on Thursday when the Cowboys are favored against the Miami Dolphins.
The Cowboys have a ton of talent on offense with quarterback Tony Romo, wide receiver Miles Austin and others. They simply have not looked good though but the Cowboys are still favored in NFL preseason betting vs. Miami.Dallas is a 3.5 point favorite at Sbg global.com with a total in NFL preseason odds of 37.5. Dallas head coach Wade Phillips originally said that Romo and the first string offense could see some serious playing time on Thursday but he has since backed off that statement. Look for the Dallas first string offense to go for a series and if they score then come right out of the game.
Don’t Overreact: There is no question that the Cowboys have struggled in the preseason but their offensive line has been a mess. The Cowboys have had a lot of injuries so you do have to take their struggles with a grain of salt. Phillips has not played his starters at all the past three years in the preseason finale so don’t expect for Romo and company to get a lot of work. Phillips has said that the Colts always struggle in the preseason and are great in the regular season so he is not overreacting too much to the first three preseason games.
Good Battle of Backup QB’s – The Dolphins and Cowboys have proven backup quarterbacks so this game in NFL preseason betting is worth watching past the first quarter. The Cowboys have Jon Kitna and Stephen McGee while Miami has Chad Pennington and Tyler Thigpen.
Total Might be the Better Play – With Dallas wanting to do something on offense and quality backup quarterback in this game, the total over might be worth a look. It is tough playing a total over when it is 37.5 in NFL preseason odds but both teams have NFL quality backup quarterbacks who should do well against second and third string players.
Miami has won three of the four all-time preseason meetings against Dallas although the teams have not met in the preseason since 1992.
