NFL Preseason Betting: Rams vs. Colts Game Details. The St. Louis Rams make the short journey to the Raceway City to go up against the Indianapolis Colts in a 2012 NFL preseason contest Sunday. Its an afternoon affair at Lucas Oil Stadium with the kickoff scheduled for 1:30ET. This one matches up last years two worst teams.

St. Louis had a disastrous year in 2011 posting a 2-14 record and of course a last place finish in the NFC West. Enter Jeff Fisher. The highly sought after coach will try to turn things around for the Rams.

But it won’t be easy. Shortly after being named to lead St. Louis, Fisher was dealt a blow by the NFL when they suspended Greg Williams, his choice for the teams defensive coordinator, for his part in the Saints “Bountygate” scandal. Sunday’s game will feature several newcomers on defense for the Rams including free agent acquisition CB Cortland Finnegan. First round pick DT Michael Brockers should get a fair share of playing time alongside Kendall Langford, another free agent signee. Another draftee, CB Janoris Jenkins should also be on the field plenty.

Three new linebackers will also be featured in Jo-Lonn Dunbar, Mario Haggan and Rocky McIntosh. WR Steve Smith joined the offense.

Much like the Rams, the Colts were 2-14 last year, fired their coach and made many personnel changes. The biggest of course, was the departure of Peyton Manning and the drafting of Andrew Luck at QB as the overall number one pick.

Luck will start on Sunday and probably play a half. He will see a familiar face at tight end, where the Colts drafted his Stanford teammate Coby Fleener. The other tight end will be 3rd round pick Dwayne Allen. Check the NFL Preseason Odds for the 2012 NFL Season.

An interesting aspect to the game will be to watch Dwight Freeney and Robert Mathis playing linebacker instead of defensive ends in Indy’s new 3-4 alignment.
Indianapolis is a 1 point home favorite if you are willing to bet $110 to win $100. Another $110 will be required for the over / under of 34 total points.
