NFL Preseason Betting: Panthers vs. Jets

August 25, 2012 NFL Football

The Panthers leave the down home comforts of the Carolina’s and head for the bright lights of the big city for a week 3 showdown with the New York Jets. The game is a Sunday night affair beginning at 8:00ET in MetLife Stadium and being televised nationally on NBC Sunday Night Football.

Carolina (1-1) comes into this one after a nice 23-17 victory over Miami last week. Cam Newton was especially impressive in that one leading Carolina’s “O” to 17 first quarter points. Look for Cam and the rest of the starters on both teams to get extended playing time on Sunday in the regulars last preseason tuneup before giving way to the 2nd string trying to make the teams in their last exhibition. He may be without a primary target with WR Steve Smith questionable.  Start your NFL Preseason Betting action on Panthers vs. Jets Game.

New York (0-2) has yet to score a touchdown in either of its two preseason defeats including the 26-3 loss to the cross town rival Giants last week. In that one the offense generated just 148 total yards. It won’t help the Jets “O” if WR Santonio Holmes is unavailable in this one. He is currently listed as questionable.

The last time these two teams met in the 2009 regular season, the Jets came out on top in New York, winning 17-6. New York leads the regular season series since 2001, winning twice and dropping one game to the Panthers. Check the Football  Preseason Odds for the Panthers vs. Jets Game.

Carolina is 1-1 SU on the preseason, and have yet to play on the road. They are 1-1 ATS. The Jets are 0-2 SU, and 0-1 SU at home. They are 0-2 ATS overall, and 0-1 ATS at home.

New York is still favored by 2.5 points at home at a -$110. Thus far this preseason, the Jets are 0-1 ATS as the home favorite. The Panthers will be playing their first game listed as the underdog, as well as their first game outside of Carolina. The over/under of 41 total points is also available at -$110.
