NFL Odds – Vince Young Implodes Again as Titans Lose

The Tennessee Titans lost on Sunday against the NFL odds as the Washington Redskins beat them in overtime but the bigger story surrounded quarterback Vince Young.

The Titans quarterback did not play well, was booed off the field, injured his thumb and then threw his shoulder pads into the stands.  Head coach Jeff Fisher has seen enough and announced that Young will no longer be the starting quarterback so keep that in mind when you look at the NFL betting odds on Tennessee this week at the Sbg global sportsbook.

Young’s Injury
Vince Young tore the flexor tendon in his right thumb but that is not his throwing hand.  The trainers tried to tape it up but Fisher was not comfortable letting Young go back into the game. Fisher said that Young never said that he was ready to go back into the game.  Young may need surgery on his thumb and if that is the case he is out for the year anyway but regardless, he will not be the starting quarterback for Tennessee even if he can return.

Not the First Time
This is not the first time that Young has lost his cool and reacted poorly. It may be the last time he does it with the Titans though.  Fisher was very disappointed in Young’s behavior and has really seen enough.  There is no denying Young’s physical talent but he simply does not have the mental fortitude to play quarterback in the NFL.

Tennessee on the Ropes
The Titans have fallen to 5-5 on the season and in the AFC that is a major problem. Tennessee is now a team that you really have to wonder about against the NFL betting odds. They were down to third string quarterback Rusty Smith after Young got hurt as Kerry Collins was out with an injury.  If Collins is able to return then perhaps the Titans can turn things around. It won’t be easy though as they go to Houston this week and they still have two games remaining against the Indianapolis Colts.  It will almost be an elimination game this week in NFL odds when Tennessee visits a Houston team that is in shock after losing this week to the Jets.
