NFL Odds – Patriots Try to Knock Jets Down to 0-2

The overhyped New York Jets could be in early trouble this season if they don’t get the win against the NFL preseason odds on Sunday as they host the New England Patriots If the Jets lose they would fall to 0-2 and already be two games back of the Patriots in the division.  The Patriots are getting some action in NFL betting as the odds as they are now a 2.5 point favorite at the Sbg sportsbook.

The Patriots looked very good last week in their NFL betting win over Cincinnati so the Jets defense will get a real test this week.  It won’t help New York’s chances that they lost defensive tackle Kris Jenkins for the season with a torn ACL.  The Jets still have a quality defense but Tom Brady and the Patriots will do more than the Ravens did last week.

Jets Not Flying on Offense – The Jets offense simply sucked last week. They were terrible against Baltimore. Quarterback Mark Sanchez was 10 of 21 for 74 yards and starting running back Shonn Greene didn’t even carry the ball in the second half.

Moss vs. Revis – The matchup that will get the most attention in this game is New England wide receiver Randy Moss against New York defensive back Darrelle Revis.  The matchup has been dominated by Revis lately as Moss had just nine catches for 58 yards in the two games last year.

Teams Split Last Year – The Jets won 16-9 while the Patriots won 31-14.  Both home teams were winners. The Jets win was in Week 2 and it was the only time since 2007 that the Patriots failed to score a TD when Tom Brady was at quarterback. The Patriots have been good in Week 2 as they are 6-2 against the NFL odds in their last 8 games in Week 2.  The Jets are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 home games.  New York is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 vs. the AFC East. The Patriots are 10-1 ATS in their last 11 meetings in New York. The road team is 19-7-1 ATS in the last 27 meetings. Looking at the total, the Under is 7-2 in the Patriots last 9 road games. The Over is 7-3-1 in the Jets last 11 vs. the AFC. The Under is 3-1-1 in the last 5 meetings between the two teams.
