NFL Odds – Michael Vick the Likely Starter vs. Lions

Who would have ever thought that we would see Michael Vick starting an NFL game again but that is the case on Sunday with the Philadelphia Eagles favored in NFL odds at Detroit. Eagles starting quarterback Kevin Kolb didn’t even practice for most of this week and it is unlikely he will start against Detroit.  The odds makers seem to like Vick more anyone as the Eagles is up to 6-point favorites in NFL lines.

It has been four years since Vick was the starting quarterback and most people thought he would never be one again after his dog fighting conviction.  Well, get ready to see him as the starting quarterback for the Eagles on Sunday.  Vick has started 68 times in his NFL career, all with the Atlanta Falcons.

Is Philadelphia Better with Vick?  The Eagles looked terrible with Kevin Kolb running the offense last week against Green Bay. After Kolb was hurt the Eagles looked much better with Vick at quarterback.  Will that continue this week?  It is the key question to answer if you are going to bet on Philadelphia. Here is what we do know. The Eagles will have a scaled back version of their offense with Vick at quarterback. That might not be a bad thing though.  Keeping things simple is not always a bad plan.

And it should be noted that Detroit’s defense is not very good.  Their front four is better but Vick has the mobility to get away and that is something Kolb does not have. Vick won 40 of 71 games as the Atlanta starting quarterback so there is a case to be made that the Eagles will be a better team with him at quarterback rather than Kolb.  Head coach Andy Reid has said that Kolb is the starter when healthy but we’ll see if that remains true if Vick has a great game against Detroit.

Philadelphia is a 6-point favorite in NFL odds at Sbg against the Detroit Lions with the total on the game at 41.5. The Lions will be going with backup Shaun Hill since starting quarterback Matthew Stafford is out.  Bettors are going with the Eagles and their backup in NFL lines against the Lions and their second stringer.
