NFL Odds: Browns at Lions

NFL Odds: Browns at Lions Handicapping Tips to bet. The Cleveland Browns make a short trip to Motown on Friday to face the Detroit Lions in the NFL preseason opener for both teams. The first kick is scheduled for 7:30ET in Ford Field.

The Browns had another disappointing season in 2011 finishing last in the AFC North at 4-12. It appears the time has come for a major rebuilding effort starting with new quarterback, Brandon Weeden who was named to start on Friday and proclaimed by head coach Pat Shurmer to be the team’s number one passer for the regular season as well. Colt McCoy has been relegated to the backup role and should see most of the playing time against the Liona after Weeden plays the majority of the first quarter. Supplemental draft pick, Josh Gordon may emerge as Weeden’s favorite target.

Much heralded rookie Trent Richardson, the 3rd overall selection in the draft, is likely out of this one after experiencing discomfort in his knee after requiring surgery during the offseason.

If you like line play, look for draftees Mitchell Schwartz on the “O” line and John Hughes on the defensive line for the Browns this preseason. Start your NFL Preseason Betting action on the Green Bay Packers at SBG Global.

Detroit had a good season last year, albeit a somewhat turbulent one at times and finished in second place of the NFC North with a record of 10-6. Head coach, Jim Schwartz must calm himself down along with defensive lineman Ndamukong Suh to stabilize this talented group.

Matthew Stafford is one of the game’s better quarterbacks and Calvin Johnson, arguably the best wide receiver. Shaun Hill is a good backup at QB too and should see much of the playing time on Friday.

The Lions will be short on running backs against the Browns and perhaps into the regular season. Jahvid Best still has not been cleared for contact after a concussion last year and Mikel Leshoure has a hamstring pull.

Detroit is a 3 point home favorite on a $115/$100 moneyline. The moneyline is $110/$100 on the over/under of 36 total points.
