By comparison, this has been a relatively tranquil preseason for the Cowboys. Owner Jerry Jones and crew have kept low profiles. At least by Dallas standards. But there is an interesting storyline to the Dallas season.
Following the playoff flop against the 49ers, Mike McCarthy was almost fired. Instead, Jones let him twist in the wind for a week. Meanwhile, former Cowboy assistant Sean Payton stepped down on his own accord as coach of the Saints. Payton is a Jones favorite. Thus, there is plenty of speculation about a potential coaching change if the Cowboys stumble.
