NFL Betting – Improved Lions Host Bills on Thursday

Two teams that could be improved this season meet on Thursday in NFL betting preseason action as the Detroit Lions host the Buffalo Bills. Both teams scored a lot of points last week and this could be a fun one to watch and make an NFL bet on.

NFL betting odds will likely favor the Lions since they are at home but the Bills proved last week they can be explosive as they put up 35 points on the Cincinnati Bengals. The Bills looked as good as they have in a long time a week ago as quarterback Trent Edwards played well and rookie running back C.J. Spiller was explosive.

Bills Surprising Bettors – When you think of the Bills you think of a rotten offense and a bad team.  That has not been the case in the preseason. Edwards has looked like a quality quarterback for a change. He has completed 24 of 37 passes for 304 yards, with two touchdowns, one interception and has a quarterback rating of 97.1 in the preseason.  He has led Buffalo’s first string offense to 38 points in the preseason.  Last year the first string for the Bills didn’t score a TD in the preseason.  The Bills actually look like an NFL offense with Edwards playing smart and C.J. Spiller running all over the place.   Buffalo’s defense has not been nearly as good as their offense so that could be a concern against a Detroit offense that has looked good.

Lions can Score:  The Detroit Lions are going to be much better in 2010.  Yes, we have said that before but the Lions are not going to be an embarrassment and they will be worth an NFL bet.  Their offense is good.  Quarterback Matthew Stafford has some weapons at his disposal with receiver Calvin Johnson and running back Jahvid Best.  The Lions can put up points.  They still can’t stop anyone but at least they will be entertaining.

What to Bet: Since the starters for both teams won’t play a great deal in this game it makes taking a side in this contest a little risky.  Neither team has much of a defense though so taking the game over might be worth a shot at Sbgglobal even with the backups in the game.
