NFL Betting – Houston Texans at New York Jets

December 1, 2010 NFL Football

The New York Jets are solid favorites in NFL betting at home on Sunday as they host the Houston Texans.

The two teams are coming in off totally opposite results.  The Texans lost on the last play of the game against Jacksonville while the Jets won in overtime against Cleveland.  New York will likely get the bulk of the action from gamblers making an NFL bet in this game at Sbg

Texans Fading
Remember when the Houston Texans were 3-1?  That seems like a long time ago as the Texans have lost four of their last five to fall to 4-5.  Last week’s game was beyond comprehension as the Texans lost on the last play of the game as Jacksonville hit a Hail Mary pass for the game winning TD.  Now Houston has to go into New York and find a way to win on the road at New York or they can kiss their season good bye.

Jets Finding Ways to Win
The Jets have now won two straight overtime games.  New York has not been particularly sharp but they have wins over Detroit and Cleveland in games they easily could have lost.  Mark Sanchez hit a 37-yard TD pass to Santonio Holmes with 16 seconds left in overtime as the Jets not only won but they covered the spread for gamblers making an NFL bet in the 26-20 win.

Jets Own the Series
The Jets and Texans have played just four times and it has been all Jets. New York has won all four of the previous meetings and covered the spread each time. Last year the Jets went into Houston and came away with a 24-7 win.  Four years ago the Jets won 26-11 at home. In addition to New York winning and covering all four games, each game went under the total in NFL betting.

Tough matchup for Houston
This is a tough game for Houston because the Jets are so good defensively. The Texans have had some success against teams that don’t play defense but they could struggle against New York’s defense.  Houston’s best receiver is Andre Johnson and he could have a tough day against New York’s Darrelle Revis.  Houston has a rotten defense and they are unlikely to contain New York’s offense in this game.
