NFL Betting – Eagles Win but Choke Away the Point Spread Cover

The Philadelphia Eagles may have won 35-32 against the Detroit Lions on Sunday but they disappointed NFL betting gamblers who laid the points. The Eagles had an 18-point lead with just over six minutes left and looked like a sure winner for those making an NFL bet but the Eagles defense choked the cover away in the last few minutes.

Michael Vick – Vick played well for the Eagles in his first start since 2006. He threw for 284 yards and two TDs and he also ran for 37 yards. He got some help from LeSean McCoy who had three touchdowns on the day. The Eagles have said that Kevin Kolb will start next week but that was before Vick had a big day against Detroit. Head coach Andy Reid is going to be under severe pressure to start Vick again next week.  The Eagles are at Jacksonville this week and with Vick at quarterback they should get some action from gamblers.

Backdoor Cover – Shaun Hill was 25 of 45 for 335 yards with two TDs but he also threw two interceptions. He did hit Calvin Johnson with a late TD that pulled the Lions within three and they actually recovered the ensuing onside kick but couldn’t get in position for a tying field goal. Rookie Jahvid Best had a monster game for Detroit with a number of big runs. He had a 14-yard run in the first quarter, took a screen pass for a 75-yard TD and later in the game he scored again from a couple yards out.

Lions 0-2 SU but 2-0 ATS – There are some teams that you have to take a second look at when you are making an NFL bet at the Sbg global sportsbook. Detroit is one of those teams. They have lost each of their first two games straight up but they are now 2-0 against the NFL betting point spread. They covered their opener against Chicago in a game they actually should have won and they came back to get the cover against the Eagles. You might not like the look of the Lions with Shaun Hill at quarterback but hey, they have gotten the money twice now in two games against the NFL betting number.
