NFL Betting – Cowboys Favored at Home on Monday vs. Giants

You might be looking at the NFL betting line on Monday night and shaking your head. How can the 1-4 Cowboys be favored at home against the 4-2 New York Giants? It is a good question to consider as you make an NFL bet on Monday Night Football.

Dallas -3, total 44 at SBG
The Cowboys are laying three points at home in this game to the Giants.  Dallas was one of the favorites to win the Super Bowl this season but now it looks like Dallas won’t even make the playoffs. They are still getting a ton of respect in the odds though as they are favored against the Giants.  Dallas has the third-best offense in the league and the fourth-best defense and yet they are 1-4.  Can you say Wade Phillips?

No Dallas Changes
Owner Jerry Jones has said that he is not going to fire Phillips in the middle of the season.  That means the Cowboys are not going to win this season but it doesn’t mean they can’t win this game.   Jones may be looking at next season already and considering a big name coach like Bill Cowher.  Dallas continues to make mistakes but Jones is sticking with Phillips even though it is obvious to everyone that the main reason the Cowboys are losing is coaching. They have committed the second-most penalties in the league.

Giants Swept Dallas Last Season – The Giants won both games against Dallas last year for the first time since 2004. The teams combined to score 64 points in the first matchup last season. New York’s defense is playing better this year so it may not be a shootout.  The Giants lead the NFC in defense at 264.8 yards per game. As you make an NFL bet keep in mind that this game should be close as the Giants won last season’s two games against Dallas by a combined nine points.

Side Trends – The Giants are 20-7-1 ATS in their last 28 games in October. The Giants are 11-4 ATS in their last 15 games as a road underdog. The Giants are 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings between the two teams. The Cowboys are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 Monday games.

Total Trends – The Over is 9-1 in the Giants last 10 vs. the NFC. The Over is 4-1 in the Giants last 5 games as a road underdog. The Over is 7-3-1 in the Cowboys last 11 Monday games. The Under is 11-5 in the Cowboys last 16 games overall. The Over is 6-2-1 in NFL betting in the last 9 meetings between the two teams.
