Kansas City Chiefs vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

To begin with the 2018 season Pittsburgh was already feeling the pressure.  Head coach Mike Tomlin was forced to make staff changes after last year’s playoff disaster against Jacksonville.  Additionally, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has been criticized for his frequent flirtations with retirement.  Encompassing NFL bets frustration is that Big Ben is nearing the end of his career.  Further, the Men of Steel were last AFC champions in 2010.  Kansas City has been operating under the radar.  And that is when the Chiefs are at their very best.  Hence their big road win at the Chargers impressed all.

Pittsburgh Steelers

Extending the NFL bets frustration of Steelers fans was last week’s 21-21 tie at Cleveland.  To being with the Browns were 0-16 last year.  At the same time, they are an ancient rival of the Steelers.  Roethlisberger was horrible with three interceptions and a passer rating of 22.8.  Concurrently he was feeling the heat and was sacked four times.  Equally important were a total of six Pittsburgh turnovers.  By reason of their 472-327 total yards edge the game felt like a total waste. Tomlin is feeling increased heat for a stale look.  A tie at Cleveland hardly changes perceptions.

Patience Running Out

Initially the Steelers are heralded as one of the most stable franchises in all of sports.  As an illustration they have had just three coaches since 1969.  As well as they have performed in that span the stability angle makes sense.  Yet there is a sense that changes may be in order if they stumble again this year.  In spite of a massive and loyal fan base patience is thin.

Kansas City Chiefs

Patrick Mahomes had a phenomenal debut for the Chiefs last week.  At the onset there were doubts about KC letting starting quarterback Alex Smith depart.  Owing to failures of previous Texas Tech quarterbacks there were doubts about Mahomes.  However, he lit the Chargers up for 256 yards and four touchdowns in the 38-28 win.  Of great concern is that Los Angeles outgained Kansas City 541-362.  Supplementing the Chiefs win was two takeaways.

Stats to Consider

Kansas City is a strong 11-5 vs. the line in away games.  Along the same lines nine of their last 12 away tilts went over the total.  Concurrently the Steelers have covered in just five of their last 15 home games.  Six of their last seven at Heinz Field went over.

Team vs. Team

Pittsburgh has dominated their sportsbook series with the Chiefs.  To be exact they have paid in four of the last five meetings.  Six of the last seven between these teams went under the total.   In addition, the Chiefs have suffered great misery at Pittsburgh with marks of 0-6 straight up and 1-5 against the spread.  Two of the last three in this matchup at Heinz Field went under.

Matchup to Watch

On the whole Pittsburgh has the defense edge in this matchup.  Supplementing the Steelers cause is their NFL bets record against the Chiefs.  In the same way the Chiefs defense has much to prove.
