NFL Bets and Action on the Minnesota Vikings vs. Seattle Seahawks

Minnesota Vikings vs. Seattle Seahawks

At the beginning of the season Minnesota was a top NFL bets choice to win the NFC championship.  Extending that feeling was last year’s appearance in the conference title game and the arrival of quarterback Kirk Cousins.  While the Vikings inconsistent play has not been Cousins fault its still not what was expected.  For one thing Minnesota has not been able to run the ball effectively.  In the same way this has prevented them from completing drives.  Contrarily Seattle was not picked to be a top contender.  Yet the Seahawks have rebounded nicely from a slow start.

Seattle Seahawks

Seattle has caught fire after a slow start to win three in a row with just one loss on the board in their last eight games.  Overall the Seahawks have an NFL bets record of 7-5 straight up, 7-3-2 vs. the odds. And 6-6 on totals.  Last week Seattle scored an easy 43-16 home payout over San Francisco.  It was the fourth straight time that the Seahawks went over the total.  On this occasion Seattle ranks ninth in the NFL for scoring offense and 10th for points allowed.  The Seahawks are second in the NFC West.

Minnesota Vikings

Minnesota has a sportsbook mark of 6-5-1 straight up and vs. the board with 5-7 under the total.  Last game the Vikings lost at New England 24-10.  It was the third loss in five games for Minnesota.  Of major concern is a rushing attack that ranks 30th in the NFL.  Balanced against that is a passing attack ranked sixth in the league.  In the same way the Vikings ranks sixth for total defense.  While the Vikings remain in the wild card hunt its been a letdown season.  In turn the Bears comfortably lead the NFC North.

Stats to Consider

Seattle has dropped precipitously as a home favorite betting value.  For example, the Seahawks have covered the spread in just two of their last eight games laying points at home.  Six of their last nine as home chalks have gone over the total.  Counter to that is Minnesota’s weak wagering value as a road dog.  To show the Vikings have covered two of their last nine getting points away from home.  Four of their last six in that situation have gone under the total.

Team vs. Team

Seattle has had the recent edge in this head to head series with the Vikings.  Supplementing that is three Seahawk payouts in the last four meetings.  Three of those four games went over the total.   Concurrently Seattle has dominated Minnesota at home.  At CenturyLink Field the Seahawks have paid in four of their last five against the Vikings.  The last six meetings in this series at Seattle went over the total.

Matchup to Watch

Seattle has been in the better form with momentum that gives them the NFL bets matchup advantage.  As was previously noted they also get the cash at home against the Vikings.
