New York Jets at Indianapolis Colts NFL Betting

NFL betting favors Indianapolis on Sunday as they host the New York Jets in the AFC Championship game. It is the first time in NFL history that two rookie head coaches will matchup in a Conference Championship game. New York reached the title game by upsetting San Diego last week in football betting while the Colts routed the Baltimore Ravens.

NFL betting has the Jets being in the AFC Championship game for the fourth time in their history.  They are 1-2 in the previous three games. The Jets are playing better than any team still in the playoffs as they are 7-1 in their last eight games.  The Jets beat the Cols 29-15 in Week 16 in the game that Indianapolis pulled their starters after leading 15-10. The New York Jets are actually 2-0 all-time vs. the Colts in the playoffs including Super Bowl III when Joe Namath and the Jets upset the heavily favored Colts.

Indianapolis got their first NFL betting playoff win last week since they won Super Bowl XLI against the Bears.  Quarterback Peyton Manning is only 8-8 in his postseason career.

New York quarterback Mark Sanchez is only the fourth rookie quarterback in history to take his team to a Conference Championship game.  The Jets don’t throw the ball a lot as they led the league in rushing this season.  New York averaged 172.3 yards on the ground per game this season.  That was tops in the league.  Indianapolis averaged 80.9 rushing yards per game this season and that was the worst in the league. This is the first time in NFL playoff history that the best rushing team in the league will meet the worst rushing team.

NFL betting trends have the Jets at 5-0 ATS in their last 5 road games. The Jets are 6-1 vs. the football betting line in their last 7 games in January. The Jets are 4-1 in NFL betting in their last 5 playoff games.

The Colts are 6-1-1 in NFL betting in their last 8 games as a favorite. The Colts are 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 home games. The Colts are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 playoff games. The home team in this series between the Jets and Colts is 7-3-2 ATS in their last 12 football betting meetings.

Five of the last six New York games in the month of January have gone over the football betting total. Four of the last five Indianapolis games overall have gone over the total.  Seven of the last ten Indianapolis games in January have gone under in NFL betting.
