Miami Dolphins Produce Yawns at 2025 NFL Draft

On the whole, it isn’t easy to find a team that is more hyped for fewer results with the NFL future Odds market than the Miami Dolphins. Following the 2025 NFL Draft, the Dolphins did nothing to improve their team stock with fans. Draftniks, fans, and gamblers saw the draft as a mediocre production. Thus, the 2025 campaign is seen as more of the same in the NFL future odds market. Miami is likely to continue its treadmill of mediocrity. More Tua Tagovailoa and Mike McDaniel are seen as nothing at the sportsbook.

2025 Miami Dolphins NFL Draft Team Review

  • Round 1: No. 13: Kenneth Grant, DT, Michigan
  • Round 2: No. 37: Jonah Savaiinaea, G, Arizona
  • Round 5: No. 143: Jordan Phillips, DT, Maryland
  • Round 5: No. 150: Jason Marshall Jr., CB, Florida
  • Round 5: No. 155: Dante Trader Jr., S, Maryland
  • Round 6: No. 179: Ollie Gordon II, RB, Oklahoma State
  • Round 7: No. 231: Quinn Ewers, QB, Texas
  • Round 7: No. 253: Zeek Biggers, DT, Georgia Tech

The Dolphins did average with their online betting selections. Thus, it is tough to get a top grade when you make only two picks through the first four rounds. Miami added a much-needed guard to its offensive line in Savaiinaea. He could start as a rookie. Kenneth Grant, their first-round pick, is a 331-pound run-stuffer. Also, he provides some juice as a pass rusher. He’ll fit nicely on the front four, which includes Zach Sieler, Bradley Chubb, and Jaelan Phillips.

Consider that Miami’s roster is in shambles. Specifically, the Dolphins’ offensive line is likely the worst blocking unit in the NFL. Additionally, the secondary looks to be atrocious. Most important of all, the team can’t possibly have any faith in Tua Tagovailoa staying healthy. So, some 2025 NFL futures insurance is needed at quarterback.

The Dolphins made it a point to address the trenches. In sum, four of their picks were spent on linemen. Including the first three picks in their draft. Namely, Kenneth Grant began the run. Specifically, the huge Michigan nose tackle will help clamp down on the run and rush the passer. Miami’s next selection was used to help improve the blocking.

In sum, the Dolphins had a strong draft overall. Although they made a couple of mistakes. First, while Ollie Gordon provided tremendous value in the sixth round, Miami should have continued to address the many holes on the roster. Running back was considered the lowest priority. Second, Dante Trader was a reach in the fifth round.

Dante Trader Jr. is going to punish ball-carriers at the next level. Gamblers believed that Gordon would bring a physical presence. Meanwhile, Ewers enters a QB room in Miami where Tua’s backups historically have tended to see their fair share of action.

Consider that Miami wisely stockpiled a 2026 third-round pick instead of choosing someone in the fourth this year. Phillips and Biggers showed the team’s commitment to stopping the run. Given his coverage skills, Marshall lasted longer in the draft than expected.

Grant’s a potential force on the defensive line, but Derrick Harmon (picked by the Steelers at No. 21 overall) and Walter Nolen (taken by the Cardinals at No. 16) could prove to be better values. Miami went with another big body in Jonah  Savaiinaea to replace Robert Jones at guard. However, they gave up two mid-round picks and received one in return to get into position to select Savaiinaea.
