Miami Dolphins at Jacksonville Jaguars

December 1, 2010 NFL Football

NFL betting has the battle of Florida on Saturday, August 16th as the Jacksonville Jaguars host the Miami Dolphins in preseason action.

The Jaguars will be solid football betting favorites in Week 2 NFL odds against the Dolphins. Let’s look at this NFL betting matchup as part of the second week of the NFL preseason.

NFL betting in this matchup will be focused on the Miami quarterback battle. The Dolphins reportedly are interested in Chad Pennington who was cut by the New York Jets after they got Brett Favre. Miami does not seem enamored with their quarterback rotation of Josh McCown, John Beck and Chad Henne according to NFL betting experts. Look for Bill Parcells to make some sort of a move before the season begins for the Dolphins. Most NFL betting experts believe that Miami will want to notch some preseason wins with Parcells running the show and new head coach Tony Sparano.

Jacksonville has a much stronger quarterback rotation according to NFL betting experts. They have David Garrard followed by veterans Cleo Lemon and Todd Bouman. Paul Smith may also get some time according to NFL betting information. Head coach Jack Del Rio has been known for defense which is why the NFL betting totals in recent season on Jacksonville games have been low. That has resulted, however, in many games going over in the football betting total. In the last three years the over is 9-3 versus the NFL betting number in Jaguars preseason games.

NFL betting stats show that over the past 11 years home teams have not done all that well against the spread. Home teams are just under 49% straight up in NFL betting. They are an even worse 46% against the football betting pointspread in the last 11 years in preseason action. The only area where they do well is as underdogs, hitting 61% against the NFL betting number.

Week 2 NFL odds will have the Jaguars as the solid favorite but history has shown that the Dolphins have a decent chance of covering the football betting number.
