2025 Los Angeles Rams NFL Draft Team Preview
The Los Angeles Rams are a bit of an odd sports betting case. They’re coming off a division championship and a playoff win. Yet they still faced uncertainty as the season ended. At the onset of the offseason, Cooper Kupp announced the team’s intentions to trade him. While Kupp will always be a part of Rams history after winning Super Bowl MVP with the team, he will be 32 next season. Most important of all, he didn’t have a 100-yard game after mid-November. He had 710 yards last season, and his salary-cap number for 2025 is $29.78 million.
Also, there was speculation around QB Matthew Stafford. He was reported to be in talks with other teams before the Rams opted to bring him back on a restructured deal. He was playing well at the end of last season. Correlate that he should have at least one more good season left as he’s about to enter his age-37 campaign.
The Rams have some fun, young talent, which they added to in a big way with the signing of veteran wideout Davante Adams. Their defense made huge 2025 NFL futures strides late in the season. But the offseason started with some key questions. In sum, at least two major ones have been answered.
The Rams are in good shape, at a projected $52 million under the cap, entering the week when free agency officially begins. To illuminate, that is in the upper half of the NFL. It means the Rams should be able to re-sign their priority free agents and perhaps still have money left over.
Los Angeles Rams 2025 NFL Draft Summary
The top three needs for the Rams are CB, LB, and OT. The top of the Rams’ roster doesn’t have many glaring holes after free agency. But they’ll need to add depth through the draft. Although the starting cornerbacks return, Los Angeles’ pass defense ranked 26th in the NFL this past season. The Rams could also add an inside linebacker after losing Christian Rozeboom (Panthers), Troy Reeder (unsigned), and Jacob Hummel (Ravens) this offseason.
Although the Rams re-signed left tackle Alaric Jackson to a three-year deal, they could draft their right tackle of the future, with Rob Havenstein entering the last year of his contract.
The one prospect to fill a need outside Round 1 for the Rams is Caleb Ransaw, CB, Tulane. The Rams indeed need to draft players who are ready to play right away. Ransaw is an athletic plug-and-play option. He has gained experience at multiple secondary spots. And he has the potential to play on the perimeter or even transition to safety.
