Lions Host Bills in Friday CBS Pro Football Betting Action

Buffalo Bills vs. Detroit Lions

Following two wins in two games are the Bills feeling good about the preseason.  Head coach Sean McDermott led the Bills to a surprise playoff berth in 2017.  But last year Buffalo reverted back to form with a more typical losing season.  Indeed, the Bills Pro Football betting record of 6-10 did much to forfeit the goodwill of 2017.  In the same way, the Lions are a perpetual disappointment.  Detroit’s first season under head coach Matt Patricia was 6-10.  Certainly, Patricia’s rookie campaign accomplished nothing in the way of changing franchise perceptions.  Detroit is 0-2 to start the preseason.

Buffalo Bills Current Form

Buffalo has a preseason Pro Football Betting record of 2-0 straight up and with the odds.  And both of their games went over the total.  First, the Bills beat Indianapolis in a 24-16 home payout.  Carolina then lost to Buffalo 27-14 in the second week of preseason.  Overall the Bills rank seventh for total offense in eighth for defense in exhibition action.  Starting with these results is it understandable if Bills fans are getting just a bit excited about 2019.

Detroit Lions Current Form

In brief, the Lions have been absolutely dreadful in the preseason.  Detroit has an online betting record of 0-2 straight up and against the spread.  New England destroyed the Lions 31-3 in the exhibition opener.  Second-week action was a 30-23 loss at Houston.  NFL preseason metrics have Detroit ranked 28th for scoring offense and 32nd for points allowed.  Yardage metrics have the same identical rankings.  For this purpose, its understandable why Lions fans are ready to throw in the towel.

Who to Watch

Namely, Matt Barkley has been outstanding for the Bills.  Barkley has an eye-popping 129.9 QB rating with two touchdowns and no interceptions.  Josh Allen has also impressed with a 90.7 rating for Buffalo.  Compared to that is Detroit quarterback David Fales rating of only 78.9.  Josh Johnson has been even worse at 40.3.  Tom Savage has posted a 109.7 rating in limited preseason action for the Lions.

Buffalo Bills and Detroit Lions Betting Trends

The Bills are:

3-5 against the spread as a preseason road dog

2-8 under the total getting points in away exhibition games

1-9 vs. the odds in preseason matchups with the Lions

1-3 under the total in exhibition games with Detroit

The Lions are:

10-4 vs. the line as a preseason home favorite

1-6 under the total as an exhibition home favorite

4-0 against the spread in home preseason games with Buffalo

2-4 under the total in-home exhibitions with the Bills

Bills vs. Lions Pro Football Betting Picks

In this situation, the Lions must put together a respectable Pro Football Betting effort.  Home fans are out of patience and the first two exhibitions were utter stink bombs.  Even though the Bills are undefeated this will be a good spot for them to experiment with less pressure to win.  As mentioned earlier the Lions own this preseason series.
