Jets Try Another Relaunch For the 2025 NFL Future Market

Aaron Glenn’s hiring as Jets head coach was an NFL future Odds win. Similarly, the team is also leaning into Justin Fields as the starting quarterback. The Jets were expected to be a run-heavy team as they developed their passing weapons beyond Garrett Wilson. He is the only Jets receiver to earn a receiving grade above 63.5. Except for Davante Adams, who is no longer with the team. New York lost DJ Reed and Morgan Moses. But drafted Armand Membou and Azareye’h Thomas to replace them. The team doesn’t have playoff-level talent. Still, it was a good offseason for them.

Since making the 2010 AFC championship game, the New York Jets have never returned to the playoffs. In that time, the Jets have burned through five head coaches. Aaron Glenn is the latest hire and will serve as a rookie head coach on the sidelines. Previously, the Aaron Rodgers experiment was an offshore betting fiasco and has ended. Once upon a time, Justin Fields was touted as the savior of the Chicago Bears. Now he will enter training camp as the number one quarterback on the depth chart.

The first major change the New York Jets underwent this 2025 NFL futures was the new masthead. The club hired Darren Mougey as its newest general manager. Also, it brought in former Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn as its next head coach.

Glenn ran one of the best defenses in the NFL throughout his tenure in Detroit. So it will be fascinating to see how he works this Jets defense. In particular, they allowed the second-fewest yards per play in the league in 2024.

The Jets brought in former Steelers quarterback Justin Fields. At the same time, Fields has yet to establish himself in the NFL truly. Still, gamblers like the dice roll here from New York. Fields is only 26. Thus, there is some hope that things could click for him. It also doesn’t hurt that he has a rapport with his former Ohio State teammate Garrett Wilson.

From the draft, Armand Membou slots in as the perfect replacement for Morgan Moses at right tackle. Additionally, it forms a youthful and talented tackle duo with 2024 first-round pick Olu Fashanu. LSU tight end Mason Taylor also has great upside. Overall, a solid step in the right direction for the Jets, which is something they haven’t heard in a while.
