Jaguars Seek 2025 NFL Future Market Reboot and Redemption

Consider that the alarming NFL future odds slide of quarterback Trevor Lawrence and head coach Doug Pederson continued in 2024. Lawrence was a breakout star who led the Jacksonville Jaguars to the playoffs under Pederson. Following a lost rookie season with Urban Meyer as head coach. After that epic 2022 run, which included a divisional playoff berth, the Jaguars were touted as a potential AFC South dynasty. However, that dream has turned into a nightmare. Lawrence has experienced a significant decline in production. Hence, Pederson was fired after losing the confidence of management, fans, and gamblers.

Exciting online betting times are ahead in Jacksonville for the 2025 season. The Jaguars have a new coach and quarterback whisperer, Liam Coen, who is tasked with developing Trevor Lawrence in a similar manner to how he helped Baker Mayfield. Additionally, a potential superstar arrives in the person of 2024 Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter, who wants to play both ways. Now, Liam Coen arrives as the new head coach, bringing a track record of saving offenses and salvaging quarterback careers. Previously, he did that with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Baker Mayfield.

New general manager James Gladstone was bold in his first 2025 NFL futures offseason at the helm in Jacksonville. First, in free agency, he bolstered the secondary with Jourdan Lewis and Eric Murray and gave Trevor Lawrence added protection with Patrick Mekari. The Jags are very high on Dyami Brown as a big-play threat, given his $10 million contract for 2025.

While free agency was solid, it was the NFL Draft where they made their biggest splash. Jacksonville leaped up to the No. 2 overall pick to select Travis Hunter, who was the most talented player in the class. The Heisman Trophy winner is going to attempt to play both ways.

If he can come close to replicating his Colorado production, this is a home run for Jacksonville. Specifically on offense, fans and gamblers are beyond excited to see the receiver duo of Brian Thomas Jr. and Hunter. Also, the back-to-back selections of Milum and Tuten in the third and fourth rounds were strong.

Jacksonville Jaguars Team History

Founded in 1995 as an expansion team, the Jacksonville Jaguars made the AFC Championship Game in their very next season. Subsequently, Jacksonville made the AFC playoffs four consecutive years and went 14-2 in 1999. However, the Jaguars lost the AFC Championship game and never regained their form.

Since then, the Jaguars have occasionally shown signs of contention, but they have never been able to sustain it. Since 2000, the Jaguars have made the playoffs just three times.

In 2017, Jacksonville led the host New England Patriots midway through the fourth quarter in the AFC Championship game but could not hold on.
