Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Tennessee Titans

Jags and Titans Open NFL Betting for Week 14 Thursday Night

December 5th, 2018 NFL Football, Offshore Betting

A clear difference can be seen for Tennessee this year compared to last.  The Titans were a playoff team last year but that was not good enough for fans and management.  For this reason, Mile Mularkey was fired as head coach and cited for lack of offensive production.  But this year the Titans have regressed as an NFL betting play.  Head coach Mike Vrabel has overseen an offense that has gotten even worse.  To exemplify the Titans have also wasted the efforts of one of the NFL’s better defenses.  Yet Jacksonville has had an even worse season.

Jacksonville Jaguars

Jacksonville has an NFL betting record of 4-8 straight up, 4-6-2 vs. the odds, and 5-7 under the total.  Last week the Jags snapped a seven-game losing streak with a 6-0 home payout against Indianapolis.  An offense that ranks 24th overall and 30th for scoring has been the culprit.  Besides that, the lackluster attack has wasted the efforts of the NFL’s third ranked defense.  Following last season’s playoff run the Jags and their backers are bitterly disappointed.  And starting quarterback Blake Bortles was benched in the win over the Colts.  Cody Kessler was not much better in relief.

Tennessee Titans

Tennessee has an offshore betting record of 6-6 straight up and against the spread with 5-7 under the total.  Last week the Titans beat the Jets 26-22 as 10.5-point home overlays.  It was the third straight loss vs. the line by Tennessee.  Comparable to the Jaguars are the Titans metrics.  Tennessee ranks 28th for scoring offense and sixth for points allowed.  Against the Jets the offense did show a pulse.  To demonstrate quarterback Marcus Mariota threw for 282 years and two touchdowns.

Stats to Consider

Jacksonville has been a respectable road dog betting value despite their problems.  In fact, the Jaguars have lost just two of their last 10 getting points away from home.  And six of their last eight as road pups have gone under the total.  Balanced against that is Tennessee’s strong wagering value as a home favorite.  The Titans have lost just three of their last 11 vs. the line laying points at home.  Five of their last seven as home chalks have gone over the total.

Team vs. Team

Jacksonville has been in the red in their series with Tennessee.  For example, the Jaguars have covered the spread in just one of their last six games with the Titans.  Four of the last six between these teams have gone over the total.  Additionally, the Jaguars have failed to get the money in their last three games at Tennessee.  Five of the last seven in this series at Nissan Stadium have gone over the total.

Matchup to Watch

As mentioned earlier these teams have similar NFL betting problems.  Offensively both teams are bad. While defensively each team brings assets.  Ultimately Mariota and home field give the Titans the matchup advantage.
