Indianapolis Colts at Houston Football Betting

December 1, 2010 NFL Football

Football betting has the unbeaten Indianapolis Colts on the road at Houston on Sunday.

The Colts are road favorites in NFL betting against a Houston team that continues to find ways to lose close games.

Football betting favors the Colts by three-points in this game with a total of 48.  Indianapolis has been winning close games this season while the Texans have been losing them. The last four Indianapolis wins have been decided by four points or less.  The last two Houston losses have both been decided by a field goal, one of which was to the Colts three weeks ago.  The Texans lost 20-17 at Indianapolis as kicker Kris Brown missed a game tying field goal attempt. Brown missed again last week as the Texans lost at home by that same 20-17 margin to Tennessee.  Now the Texans have fallen to 5-5 and face a must-win game on Sunday.

The Colts are not winning by accident in football betting. They have the league’s forth best offense in terms of points scored and they have the #1 defense in fewest points allowed.  The Texans have a nice offense that is ranked 13th in the league but that is nothing special while their defense is only 16th.  That is why they are just a .500 team.  Winning teams find ways to win games while average teams do not.

The Colts have been a good team on the road laying points in football betting. The Colts are 4-0 in football betting in their last 4 games as a road favorite.  The area of concern in NFL betting for the Colts is that they are just 6-13 vs. the football betting odds in their last 19 within in their division.

Houston still has good football betting numbers, especially when they are getting points at home. The Texans are 7-1 vs. the football betting lines in their last 8 games as an underdog.   They are also strong within the division as they are 5-2 in football betting in their last 7 vs. the AFC South.

Indianapolis has been a team that goes under the football betting total. Their last four division games have all gone under. Houston is also going under the NFL betting total a lot. Six of their last seven overall have gone under in football betting. There are a couple of things that point to a high scoring game though.  Houston has gone over in 20 of their last 28 division games and the last four meetings between the two teams in Houston have gone over in NFL betting.
