Green Bay Packers Hold Server at 2025 NFL Draft

Green Bay Packers Hold Server at 2025 NFL Draft

Since 1993, the Green Bay Packers have been one of the most consistent franchises for the NFL future Odds. Green Bay missed the playoffs only eight times in that span. Most important of all, they made three Super Bowl appearances, winning twice. However, there is a sense among Packer fans that much more could have been accomplished. Furthermore, Green Bay’s last Super Bowl appearance was in the 2011 season. With Brett Favre, Aaron Rodgers, and Jordan Love, the Packers have been loaded at quarterback. Yet, fans believe they don’t have much to show for it.

2025 Green Bay Packers NFL Draft Team Review

  • Round 1: No. 23: Matthew Golden, WR, Texas
  • Round 2: No. 54: Anthony Belton, OT, North Carolina State
  • Round 3: No. 87: Savion Williams, WR, TCU
  • Round 4: No. 124: Barryn Sorrell, edge, Texas
  • Round 5: No. 159: Collin Oliver, LB, Oklahoma State
  • Round 6: No. 198: Warren Brinson, DT, Georgia
  • Round 7: No. 237: Micah Robinson, CB, Tulane
  • Round 7: No. 250: John Williams, OT, Cincinnati

Last week, the 2025 NFL Draft did not enhance Packer fans’ expectations. Last season, either the Packers didn’t like what they saw from their receivers, or they wanted a crowded receiving corps. It’s going to be up to coach Matt LaFleur to form the right rotation for Jordan Love on the field.

Indeed, players competing for snaps is rarely a bad idea. Green Bay might still lack a legitimate No. 1 wideout. However, Matthew Golden is a speedy weapon and a friendly target with reliable hands. Williams has received comparisons to Deebo Samuel with his ability to contribute from the backfield. In turn, perhaps the Packers focused too much on the offensive side. Instead, they may have waited too long to add another pass rusher.

Golden at 23 was an impressive sports betting value that would’ve had gamblers salivating if they were a general manager. He should be the top target for quarterback Jordan Love instantly. Additionally, he can finally provide an alpha presence to that room of complementary pieces.

General manager Brian Gutekunst took the needs into account effectively. Most important of all, he addressed nearly all the positions that were missing starting-level talent. Correlate that he injected youth into rooms that had lost veterans to free agency. As a result, the floor of that team at the very least has been raised.

Of major concern is that every pick after Golden felt like a reach. There was constantly better talent on the board. Thus, it looks like Gutekunst was more worried about scheme fit than actually getting the best players possible.

Namely, Barryn Sorrell (No. 124) and Collin Oliver (No. 159) are good fits for how the Packers run their defense. However, they ultimately just don’t have the same natural talent as edge rushers who came off the board later. Meanwhile, wide receiver Savion Williams feels like an attempt to recapture the brief Christian Watson magic. But he has a lot of 2025 NFL futures development still to come.

To conclude, Green Bay ended its 23-year streak of not drafting a receiver in Round 1 with Golden. Naturally, the team surely hopes is the downfield playmaker Jordan Love needs. Instead of adding a cornerback and edge rusher on Day 2, the Packers gambled on Anthony Belton. There are concerns about whether his size can overcome his lapses against speed.
