Gamblers Expect Eagles to Fly Over NFC East in 2025

(1) Gamblers Expect Eagles to Fly Over NFC East in 2025

So far, the Eagles are the clear favorite in the NFL odds future market to win the 2025 NFC East title over the Washington Commanders. Fans see the Cowboys and Giants as long shots. Just three years ago, then-rookie head coach Brian Daboll took the Giants to an unexpected playoff berth and a postseason win at Minnesota. Thus, the past two years of failure are a bitter disappointment. Now, gamblers are wary of Daboll, even after the controversial quarterback Daniel Jones’ departure. Jones was never fully accepted by New York fans.

Now, newly arrived Russell Wilson is the new quarterback of the G Men. Jones had a career-high offshore bookmaker season under Daboll in 2022. In turn, he got a big new contract as a result. But it was all for nothing.

At the onset of the 2023 season, the Philadelphia Eagles compiled a 10-1 record. Hence, they were a strong Super Bowl betting favorite before the roof caved in. But the Eagles more than made up for it in 2024 by annihilating the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl. Head coach Nick Sirianni has been redeemed after a disappointing finish in the 2023 NFL betting odds.

Consider that the 2023 season ended so badly that Sirianni was said to have a potential date with the firing squad. But he escaped that fate and now begins 2025 as one of the top coaching properties in pro football.

Regarding the hot seat, Dallas head coach Mike McCarthy was in that class last year and did not survive. Previously, McCarthy led the Cowboys to three consecutive playoff berths, but they failed to advance each year in the postseason. Correlate that in 2024, McCarthy and the Cowboys had their season wiped out by injuries. Now Brian Schottenheimer will be the latest head coach to deal with meddling Jerry Jones. Jones is now in his 80s and running out of time for a final Super Bowl title.

Since the Philadelphia Eagles, under Andy Reid and Donovan McNabb, won four straight division titles from 2001 to 2004, no team has won the NFC East in consecutive years. That trend has continued for almost two decades.

Overall, the Dallas Cowboys have dominated the NFC East with 25 titles. Dallas was a juggernaut in the 1970s, winning seven division crowns in that stretch, and the Cowboys added another six division titles as the team of the 1990s. Since 2011, the New York Giants haven’t won the NFC East. Consider that they might not win a division title for a while, given the absence of talent on the roster.

In 1961, the one-year-old Dallas Cowboys joined the New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles, and Washington Redskins in a division that has been together for all but one year (1967). Accordingly, the NFC East has a familiarity, history, and tradition that date back to the game’s roots. The Cowboys, Eagles, Giants, and Redskins (now Commanders) have had some of the fiercest and greatest battles in pro football history.

Lately, the Cowboys and Eagles have been the dominant teams of the NFC East. Since 2001, the Eagles have won the division 11 times, while Dallas has won it 12 times since 1992.
