Football Betting – Panthers Laying Points to Titans

The Carolina Panthers are three-point favorites in football betting on Saturday as they host the Tennessee Titans. You might be surprised by this NFL football betting line since Tennessee was so impressive on Monday night against Arizona but this is a tough spot for the Titans as they had just five days to prepare. Football betting odds favor the Panthers for a few other reasons.  This is a preseason game, the Panthers are 0-2 and really need a win and they are at home. The total at Sbg global.com for this contest is listed at 36.5.

Tennessee did virtually everything right a week ago so they don’t have a lot to prove in this game. The first string offense looked very good last week with Vince Young leading the team to a 10-0 lead.  Backup Kerry Collins is an NFL veteran who will be ready to play so there is not a lot of incentive for Tennessee to go all out on a short work week. Carolina Needs a Win:  The Panthers are 0-2 in the preseason and teams really look to avoid going winless in the preseason.  Next week’s game is meaningless so this is a very important contest for the Panthers. Their offense was pitiful last week as they scored just three points in a loss to the Jets. They were not much better the previous week against Baltimore.  Quarterback Matt Moore really needs a good outing as he is just 10 of 24 for 89 yards in the preseason. Rookie quarterback Jimmy Clausen has not been much better going 17 of 37 with two interceptions.

Series History:  The Titans and Panthers almost never play each other. In fact, the Titans have faced the Panthers fewer

than any other NFL team. They have met just three times in the regular season and this will be their first-ever preseason matchup. The Titans lost the first regular season meeting against Carolina but have won the last two. The last meeting was in 2007 when the Titans beat Carolina 20-7. Even though the Panthers have not played well in the preseason this looks to be a good spot for them to get a win against the NFL football betting lines on Saturday.
