Football Betting – Indianapolis at Jacksonville

Football betting excitement includes an AFC South Division matchup for Sunday as the Jacksonville Jaguars host the Indianapolis Colts with a 4:10 PM Eastern kickoff. Indianapolis opened as a 7.5 point road favorite at Sbg sportsbook with an over/under of 46.  CBS will telecast the game.

Colts Kicking Back
After a 34-24 debacle against the Houston Texans as 1 point favorites, to fall to 0-1 at the start of the season the Colts have bounced back nicely with consecutive wins over the New York Giants, and last week over the Denver Broncos.  Indianapolis now stands with a NFL football betting mark of 2-1 both straight up and against the spread as they have quieted the naysayers again…at least for now.

Peyton’s Place
Indy quarterback Peyton Manning won his 4th NFL Most Valuable Player Award last year and is gunning for a 5th as he is off to another stellar start in 2010.  Manning has already eclipsed the 1000 yard mark in passing yards and has a 116.9 quarterback rating with 9 touchdowns and is yet to be intercepted.  Manning is averaging 8 yards per pass attempt.  As long as the MVP is at QB, the Colts are a threat to get the money any time they take the field.

Del Rio and Gerrard Humiliated…AGAIN!
The Jacksonville Jaguars have a football betting record of 1-2 both straight up and against the spread and are coming off a 28-3 loss at home to the Philadelphia Eagles as 2 point dogs.  Head coach Jack Del Rio and quarterback David Gerrard were already under fire before the season started and have both managed to lose whatever credibility that they had remaining.  Jacksonville ranks 30th for total offense and 29th for total defense.  Last week Gerrard was an embarrassment as he completed just 13-30 passes for 105 yards with an interception.  Gerrard has a 66.7 QB rating for the season with a weak 6.1 yards per attempt average and a 4/5 touchdown/interception ratio.  Jacksonville is a franchise on shaky ground with weak finances and a dwindling fan base and the bad start only adds to the pressure.

Sleeper Dog with Bite?
Jacksonville has covered the spread in their last 3 consecutive NFL football betting matchups at home against the Colts and their series has gone over the total in 5 out of the last 6 meetings.
