Eagles Upset Colts to Stay Undefeated, Cover Spread

Week 3 in the NFL ended on Monday night as the Philadelphia Eagles 2-0 (1st NFC East) played the Indianapolis Colts 0-2 (3rd in AFC South). Indy was favored at -3 with the Ov/Un at 54. The game was played at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana and the Eagles won the game to stay undefeated.

As the game first half ended the Eagles were trailing the Colts 6-17, but as the experts say, with a QB like Foles and a RB like Sproles the Eagles are never out of the game. Like QB Foles completed a TD pass to tie the game with 3:25 left in the game, held the Colts on the next drive and the QB Foles led the team back to set up a winning 36 yard field goal by Parker as time expired for the 30-27 win over the Colts.

The Eagles WR Sproles had 7 receptions for some 152 yards and a TD. With the win the Eagles were victorious for their first game of the season for the sixth straight season. Eagles Coach Chip Kelly praised Sproles for his part in the comeback which was on prime-time, and said Sproles is a very dynamic player and we just need to keep finding ways to feed him the football.

The Colts who are the defending AFC South Champions and whom had not lost two consecutive regular season game since Andrew Luck became their QB, and they were leading the Eagles 17-6 at halftime and then had two very costly turnovers that enabled the eagles to score 14 points in the second half.

The Eagles with QB Foles who completed 21 of 37 passes for 331 yards and 1 TD while RB McCoy carried the ball 20 times gaining 79 yards and scored the Eagles first TD of the game in the 3rd quarter. The Colts now must prepare for next Sunday game at the Jacksonville Jaguars 0-2 (3rd in AFC South) who are coming off a loss to the Washington Redskins 1-1 (2nd NFC East).

In the 3rd quarter Colts QB Luck threw a pass that was meant for WR Hilton which was intercepted by the Eagles Jenkins. Then QB Foles threw a swing pass to RB Foles who then rushed to the Colts 6 yard line, followed by a pass to Maclin that tie the score in the game at 27-27.

The Colts QB Luck completed 21 of 37 passes for 331 yards with 1 TD and he was intercepted twice. Their RB’s had 38 carries for 169 yards, while their receivers had 20 receptions with Bradshaw scored 2 touchdowns and Doyle had 1 TD, and the team lost 2 fumbles.

The score in the game was close but the statistics somewhat different as the Eagles had 24 first downs, 65 total plays for 458 yards with 331 passing, 127 rushing yards and 1 turnover. The Colts had 25 first downs with 72 plays for 341 yards with 172 passing, 169 rushing and 2 turnovers.

The Colts Coach Pagano was very upset with the two costly turnovers in the game and with their defense that was unable to stop the Eagles offense in the last 20 minutes of the game.

Meanwhile the Eagles are at home for the game on Sunday, Sept.21 against the Washington Redskins 1-1 (NFC East) who in their last game beat the Jacksonville Jaguars 0-2 (3rd AFC South) 17-6 on Sept.7th 2014.
