Eagles Meet Patriots in Preseason Bet on NFL Super Bowl Rematch

Philadelphia Eagles vs. New England Patriots preseason week 2 odd,s and betting preview

Admittedly there is no substitute for Super Bowl victory.  And that certainly pertains to Thursday’s preseason rematch of 2018 Super Sunday.  After all nothing can replace the thrill of a world championship.  Counter to that is the pain of a Super Bowl loss.  Thus, the Eagles and Patriots bet on NFL preseason matchup won’t change much.  Concurrently both teams will work in preparation for yet another Super Bowl appearance.  Starting with last week New England looks more than ready.  Counter to that was a terrible opener for the Eagles.  In short there will be plenty of experimenting at Gillete Stadium.

Philadelphia Eagles

Philadelphia was clobbered at home by Pittsburgh 31-14 in their preseason opener.  Extending the Bet on NFL loss was quarterback Nate Sudfeld’s two interceptions.  Not withstanding that Sudfeld had a decent game.  For instance, he was 10-14 for 140 yards with two touchdown passes.  Balanced against that was Pittsburgh’s 252-219 advantage in total yards.  Further the Eagles were minus two on turnover margin in the loss.  Also problematic was Philly’s 2-10 mark on third down conversions.

New England Patriots

New England handled Washington 26-17 at home in their preseason opener.  Most important of all the Patriots may have found a running back.  Namely Ralph Webb ran for two touchdowns and scored a pair of two-point conversions.  The end result was a solid 46 yards on 14 carries for Webb.  In a similar fashion was the performance of Jeremy Hill.  Likewise, Hill ran for 51 yards on 11 carries with a touchdown.  Webb is an undrafted free agent from Vanderbilt.  Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski sat the game out.

Patriots Performance

Commencing with the Patriots performance was good defense.  To show Washington was just 3-12 on third downs.  Balanced against that was New England hitting 7-15 on third down conversions.  Backup quarterback Brian Hoyer was 16-23 for 144 yards in the game.  Simultaneously Devin Lucien had four catches for 71 yards to lead New England.

Poor Philadelphia

As an illustration Philadelphia has been a poor online betting pick for preseason away games.  Specifically, the Eagles have dropped six of their last nine in that role.  Further, four of their last five road exhibitions went under the total.  On the contrary New England has been marginally profitable at home preseason games.  Overall the Patriots are 6-5 vs. the line in their last 11 exhibitions at Gillete Stadium.  Nine of their last 12 in that situation have gone over the total.

Team vs Team

New England has the edge in this preseason series with the Eagles.  For example, the Patriots are 7-4 vs. the odds in exhibition action against Philadelphia.  Supplementing that are covers in the last two preseason meetings for New England. Five straight preseason meetings between these teams went over the total.

Matchup to Watch

Philadelphia added to its woes with the distraction of further anthem protests last week.  Encompassing this Bet on NFL matchup is the Eagles poor road mark in preseason action.  For this purpose New England rates the edge.

Eagles vs. Patriots NFL games Betting Odds Pick

To conclude New England rates the pick in this matchup.  Even though it hardly compensates for their Super Bowl defeat.
