The Raiders went heavy on the offensive side, using five of their first six offshore betting choices. Correlate Las Vegas built up the unit around quarterback Geno Smith. Of course, Jeanty is the centerpiece. He is a back who will be utilized heavily from the start. Last year, he rushed for 2,601 yards and 29 touchdowns with Boise State. Beyond Ashton Jeanty, Bech, Rogers, and Grant could all be starters in 2025, giving Las Vegas some excellent talent and value throughout its draft class.
At the onset, the Raiders made a strange decision to trade for Geno Smith this offseason. Given what they did, it’s apparent that they believe they can compete for the division. Furthermore, their offensive line and secondary needed upgrades as well.
The Raiders indeed selected the best running back in the 2025 NFL Draft class. Still, that does not mean it was a good decision. Consider that there were so many talented running backs available in the second round. But the Raiders disagreed and took Jeanty.
The Raiders’ draft class didn’t improve following the Jeanty pick. Correlate that gamblers loved the Carlos Rogers selection. But that was the only one that scored above a B+. The Raiders had four choices that were “C” or worse, as they reached throughout the weekend. Also, Las Vegas made the mistake of passing on Shedeur Sanders repeatedly. Sanders would have been a great option to groom behind Geno Smith.
At the beginning, the Raiders needed at least two receivers in this draft. And they hit a home run with Thornton, an underutilized size/speed guy. Accordingly, Tonka Hemingway brings activity and Pegues’ size to the team’s defensive line rotation.
Las Vegas picked both of the quarterbacks who played in the 2024 FCS Championship Game: Miller (North Dakota State) and Mellott (Montana State). Overall, Cam Miller has potential as a reserve. Meanwhile, Mellott put up elite workout numbers. Additionally, he ran routes as a receiver at his pro day.
