Detroit Lions at Green Bay NFL Betting

December 1, 2010 NFL Football

NFL betting heavily favors the Green Bay Packers on Sunday as they host the Detroit Lions.

The Packers are nothing special at 2-2 but they are still laying almost two touchdowns in football betting to Detroit.

NFL betting odds have the Packers favored by 13.5 points with a total of 48. The Lions are 1-4 this season but have been competitive in many of their games. Their head coach Jim Schwartz knows that it won’t be easy to win at Green Bay. “An adage in the NFL, probably courtesy of Bill Parcells is, ‘You are what you are.’ You are what your record says you are. We’re a 1-4 football team coming off a tough loss.” he said, “We have a lot of work to do with a lot of issues that we have to deal with this next week to go on the road to Lambeau (Field) to win for the first time since 1991. That’s what we are: a 1-4 football team and we have a lot of work to do.”

The Packers are not in a position in the NFC North to be giving this game away in NFL betting. They are already 2.5 games behind the division leading Minnesota Vikings so they know that a loss against Detroit is unacceptable. “We’re 2-2. There is obviously three-quarters of the season to go. That’s our mindset.” Head coach Mike McCarthy said, “It’s one game at a time. There is a lot of football left. We’re not really looking at the standings. We know where we are, but there is a sense of urgency to make sure we clean our own house and get things ready for Detroit.”

Some people who look at this NFL betting matchup won’t give Detroit a second thought but the Lions have a chance. The Lions are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games as a road underdog. The problem for Detroit in football betting is that they are 3-8-1 ATS in their last 12 meetings in Green Bay.

Many of the NFL betting trends are against Green Bay. The Packers are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games overall. The Packers are 1-4 in football betting in their last 5 games as a home favorite.

If you are considering the NFL betting total then you should be aware that the 21 of the last 27 Detroit road games have gone over the total. 10 of the last 13 Green Bay games at home have gone over the football betting total. The last four meetings in this series have gone over the NFL betting total.
