Denver Broncos at Oakland Pro Football Betting

December 1, 2010 NFL Football

Pro football betting on Sunday includes an AFC West rivalry game in Oakland as the Raiders host the Denver Broncos.

The Broncos have surprised everyone by starting 2-0 and they have a real shot to start 3-0 since they are a small favorite in NFL betting in this game.

Pro football betting has the Broncos as a 2 point favorite with a total of 36.5.
Denver has gotten excellent defensive play in their first two games and that is likely to continue on Sunday against at weak Oakland offense.  Last season the Broncos were 30th in the league in points per game but head coach Josh McDaniels changed the defensive scheme to a 3-4 and the Broncos have been much better this season. "We just said, ‘All right, we’re going in that direction regardless,’" McDaniels said.  Pro football betting stats show that the Broncos have given up the fewest points in the NFL with 13.  Last week the defense dominated Cleveland in the 27-6 pro football betting win as they recovered two fumbles and had an interception.

The Raiders are 1-1 after finding a way to lose their opener against San Diego but finding a way to win last week against Kansas City.  The offense had just 166 yards while the defense gave up 409 yards. It would be hard for Oakland to struggle more than they have offensively but they will be without right guard Robert Gallery, who is out four to six weeks.

Denver and Oakland split the season series last year with each team winning in pro football betting on the road. Denver has won five of their last six pro football betting meetings in Oakland.

Denver is the only team in the NFL to not commit an offensive turnover this season.  The Broncos still have poor pro football betting numbers overall. They are 9-21-1 vs. the NFL betting number in their last 31 vs. the AFC. The Broncos are 6-21-1 vs. the pro football betting number in their last 28 games as a favorite.  Denver has just been awful against the AFC West as they are 3-14-1 in pro football betting in their last 18 vs. the AFC West.

Oakland has not been a good home underdog in pro football betting though.  They are 8-19 in NFL betting in their last 27 games as a home underdog.  The Raiders have done well in this series in pro football betting of late though.  The Raiders are 5-1 ATS in the last 6 NFL betting meetings.
