This Thursday, the 20th of November, we begin Week 12 of the NFL regular season with the now 7-3 Kansas City Chiefs playing at the 0-10 Oakland Raiders (4th AFC West) with the game at 8:25 PM ET on NFL TV, and at the Oakland County Coliseum, in Oakland, California. The betting odds are favoring the Chiefs at -7 (-115) with the O/U at 42 ½ with ML -350 and the comeback ML +290 on the Raiders.
The NFL is usually dominated by the teams with the high-powered offenses that pass the ball and run up the score, but the Chiefs are winning differently by presenting an elite defense, and a powerful rushing game, and are Super Bowl contenders if they keep winning as such. Presently, they are in a tie for 1st place in the AFC West with the pass-powerful Denver Broncos.
It’s incredible that all of the five top NFL scoring teams are in 1st, or at least share 1st place in their own divisions, with two of the five teams tied for the ranking of the # 6 scoring offense and tied for 1st place respectively.
This season the Chiefs have had big scores, like 75 points in week 3 and 4, still they are no NFL offensive powerhouse. Some 11 NFL teams have averaged more points than their 24.2 points per game, and they are also at the bottom of the league rankings for passing yardage. In their last game with the Seahawks their victory was attributed to their rushing game of 30 carries for 190 yards, as their passing game of 11 completions for 108 yards and no scores, left a lot to be desired. Their running game with Charles and Davis may be the best i-2 punch in the league, with Charles averaging 5.2 yards per carry, thus the Chiefs rank 4th in NFL with 141.2 yards rushing per game, but their defense ranks 2nd in the NFL as they allow only 17.1 points per game, will possessing the 1st passing defense allowing only 202 yards per game through the air.
Meanwhile, the Raiders are still seeking their 1st win of the season, and they are there as a result of their poor offense struggles, which has been unable to score more than 28 points in a game, while opponents held them in 7 of their 10 losses to 14 points or less. Now they possess the league’s worst per game scoring average of 15.3 points per game. Thus, with their offense and the Chiefs defense, it appears that the Raider will find in difficult to score in this matchup.
