Chargers Huge Favorites Over Raiders in Week 11

football cheerleader sitting on fieldThis Sunday, the 16th of Nov. 2014, in Week 11 NFL football, the winless 0-9 Oakland Raiders (4th AFC West) play at home against the 5-4 San Diego Chargers (3rd AFC West). The game will be played at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, CA. at 4:05 PM. Presently, the betting odds favor the Chargers at -10 with the O/U at 44 ½ and ML -600 with comeback +450 on Raiders ML.

A month ago when these two teams played, and the Chargers beat the Raiders 31-28 in Week 6, and they were atop of the AFC West, but San Diego has not won a game since then. Last week they had a bye week, and this week hope beat the winless Raiders in another match-up this Sunday.

The Chargers seem to be struggling in all phases of their game, as their offense is only averaging some 245 yards per game, and they have had 7 turnovers during this losing streak. But during their winning streak, they had one turnover (interception) and were gaining 395.8 yards per game, while their defense was limiting opposing teams to 289.3 yards per game. In that three game losing streak, they were gaining 410.2 yards on average, for the three games with no turnovers.

The Raiders on the other side have lost some 7 consecutive road games, and last week had one of their worst defeats, as they lost at home to the Broncos 41-7, and were only able to achieve 22 yards on offense, of which on 30 was rushing yardage, and for the 1st time since back in 2006 they failed to make a 1st down rushing.

The offensive leaders for the Raider are QB Carr, who has completed 206 of his 337 passes for 1.903 yards and 13 touchdowns with 9 interceptions, and a 61.1% completion rate. RB McFadden had 105 carries for 372 yards and 2 touchdowns, while QB Carr had 13 carries for 81 yards and no touchdowns. Receivers Jones & Holmes had 72 combined receptions for 863 yards with Jones scoring 3 touchdowns and Homes scoring 4 touchdowns. Oakland has averaged 16.2 points per game, while allowing opponents 28 points per game.

Leading offensively for the Chargers are QB Rivers who has completed 197 of 294 passes for 2,351 yards with 20 touchdowns and 8 interceptions, with a completion rate of 67.0%. RBs Oliver & Brown who combined for 161 carries for 520 yards with Oliver scoring 2 touchdowns. Receivers Floyd & Allen combined for 75 receptions for 1,004 yards, with Floyd scoring 3 touchdowns and Allen scoring 1 TD. San Diego has averaged 22.8 points per game while allowing opponents some 20.7 yards per game.

For team offense the Raiders average 281 yards per game with 29 passing and 62 rushing. The Chargers average 334 yards per game, 252 passing and 82 rushing. On team defense the Raiders allow opponents 372 yards per game, 242 passing and 131 rushing. The Chargers defense allows opponents 342 yards per game, 229 passing and 113 rushing. Since 2001 in the games between the Chargers and the Raiders, San Diego leads 19-8.
