Chargers Dangerous Bet NFL Dogs with Bite at Pats in Divisional Playoff

January 9th, 2019 NFL Football, Offshore Bookmaker

Despite the fact that they did not finish strong the New England Patriots are a top favorite to win the AFC.  The Patriots boast one of the top offenses in the NFL.  But New England remains suspect on defense, especially against the pass.  At the onset of the season the Los Angeles Chargers were ignored as a bet on NFL favorite.  But nobody is blowing off LA now.  In fact, the Chargers have proven to be one of the most complete teams in the NFL.  Also, Los Angeles proved they can win a road playoff game last week at Baltimore.

New England Patriots

New England posted a regular season bet on NFL record of 11-5 straight up, 9-7 vs. the odds, and 5-11 under the total.  As a result, they won the AFC East and earned a bye last week.  The Patriots posted NFL rankings of fourth for scoring offense and seventh for points allowed.  Naturally quarterback Tom Brady had another big year.  As an example, Brady threw for 4355 yards with 29 touchdown passes and a 97.7 rating.  While not a dominant season the Patriots carry the cache of being consistent winners.

Los Angeles Chargers

Los Angeles scored an impressive 23-17 online betting payout at Baltimore in the wild card round last week.  On the whole the Chargers have been one of the most impressive teams in the NFL.  LA was 12-4 straight up, 9-7 against the spread, and 8-8 on totals.  The Chargers ranked sixth for scoring offense and eighth for points allowed.  Comparable to Brady was a strong year from quarterback Philip Rivers.  LA’s signal caller threw for 4308 yards and 32 touchdown passes with a 105.5 rating.  Keenan Allen caught 97 passes for 1196 yards to lead the Chargers.

Stats to Consider

Los Angeles has been a highly profitable road dog.  To demonstrate the Chargers have covered eight of their last 11 getting points away from home.  Four of their last six in that role have gone over the total.  However New England has been a cash cow as a home chalk at Gillette Stadium.  The Patriots have paid in 11 of their last 14 games laying points at home.  Seven of their last nine in that situation have gone under the total.

Team vs. Team

The Patriots have dominated their head to head series with the Chargers.  To begin with LA has paid in just four of the last 19 meetings between these teams.  Five of the last six in this matchup have gone under the total.  Additionally, the Chargers have covered just two of their last eight visits to New England.  Six of those eight games went over the total.

Matchup to Watch

Certainly, the Chargers are a live bet on NFL dog in this one.  Despite the fact that New England is such a strong home value LA brings a team that was division winner worthy.  In the same way this matchup looks even which means take the dog.
