Even with those six consecutive playoff seasons and two AFC championship game appearances. This team has been performing well for a while, but it’s time for them to step up in January. The Bills’ top online wagering priority in free agency was handing out contract extensions to their core players. Namely, Greg Rousseau, Terrel Bernard, Christian Benford, Josh Allen, and Khalil Shakir cashed in. Also, they signed Josh Palmer as the right type of receiver to bring in. Palmer earned a 90.5 receiving grade on targets of 20 or more yards last season. But Buffalo is scheduled to start the same safety duo that earned a 31st-ranked coverage grade last season in Damar Hamlin and Taylor Rapp.

Buffalo prioritized keeping its core intact. Hence, most of its 2025 NFL futures efforts during free agency were focused on keeping the team together, including extensions for Josh Allen, Greg Rousseau, Terrel Bernard, Khalil Shakir, and Christian Benford. Additionally, they made notable additions, notably signing wide receiver Josh Palmer and edge rusher Joey Bosa. Palmer has routinely been underrated, and Bosa, so long as he’s healthy, will help apply pressure off the edge.

In the 2025 NFL Draft, defense was the priority, and for good reason. Buffalo’s defense was a key reason the Bills were unable to get over the hump and reach the Super Bowl. In particular, with their struggles on third down. Correlate that they answered that by adding speedy corner Maxwell Hairston in the first round. And then they spent Day 2 largely focused on the offensive line with defensive tackle TJ Sanders and edge rusher Landon Jackson. There weren’t any major splashes for the Bills, but it was a strong offseason nonetheless.

Buffalo Bills Team History

The Buffalo Bills were founded in 1960 as American Football League charter members. Since that season, they have shared the same division with the New York Jets and New England Patriots. And the Miami Dolphins joined the division in 1966 as an expansion team.

Buffalo was an AFL powerhouse in the mid-1960s, winning the league title in 1964 and 1965. However, the Bills wallowed in mediocrity for most of the next two decades. With the arrival of quarterback Jim Kelly and head coach Marv Levy, Buffalo made four consecutive Super Bowls from 1990 through 1993. However, the Bills were unable to win that final game.
