Browns Win in Last Seconds Over Falcons

Browns player after catching footballThe now 7-4 Cleveland Browns (2nd AFC North) beat the now 4-7 Atlanta Falcons (2nd NFC South). The game was played in the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, Georgia and seen on CBS TV. Let’s recap this Sunday NFL betting action.

The Browns QB Hoyer had 3 interceptions in the game but the Browns finally sealed the win with a FG by Condiff as game time expired. The Browns defense was able to curb Atlanta QB Ryan who coming into the game was completing 63.9 % of his passes, and he only completed 9 of his passes and none to his main target Receiver Jones.

Cleveland and Atlanta both scored 7 points in the 1st quarter, and in the 2nd Cleveland scored 6 points and Atlanta 7 bringing half-time score to Cleveland 13 and Atlanta 14. In the 3rd quarter Cleveland scored 10 points while the Falcons were scoreless, then in the final 4th quarter the Falcons scored 10 points taking the lead 24-23, then as time expired the Browns kicked a FG to win the game 26-24.

Leading offensively for the Browns were QB Hoyer, who completed 23 of his 40 passes for 322 yards and 3 interceptions, while being sacked 1 time for a loss of 9 yards. RBs Crowell & West who combined for 26 carries for 150 yards, with Crowell scoring 2 touchdowns. Receivers Gordon & Hawkins combined for 13 receptions for 213 yards. The Browns had 29 first downs on 71 plays for 475 total yards, with 313 passing and 162 rushing yards, with 3 interceptions, while possessing the ball for 30:37 minutes of the game.

Offense leaders for the Falcons were QB Ryan who completed 27 of 43 passes for 273 yards with 2 touchdowns and 1 interception, and was sacked 3 times for a combined loss of 21 yards. RBs Jackson & Rodgers combined for 16 carries for 50 yards, with Jackson scoring 1 TD, while Receivers White & Jones combined for 14 yards for 164 yards, with Jones scoring 1 TD. The Falcons had 21 first downs on 69 plays for 315 total yards, with 252 passing and 63 rushing yards, with 1 interception and 1 fumble lost. They possessed the all for 29:23 minutes of the 60 minute game.

Atlanta struggled for most of the game, as in the 1st half as QB Ryan had a fumble, and an interception on consecutive possessions, which allowed the Browns FB kicker Cundiff to make a FG for six points. Cundiff had FG’s of 33, 37, 32 and the 37 yarder to win the game.
