Bills Massive Monday Night Football NFL Betting Home Dogs to Pats

New England Patriots vs. Buffalo Bills

At first glance the Buffalo Bills getting 14 points at home on a Monday night may look like a good thing.  After all the Monday Night Football home dog theory has long been a favorite NFL betting angle.  Balanced against that is the visiting team laying those 14 points.  The New England Patriots are in top form and own this series at Buffalo.  And with the Bills offense struggling as among the worst in the NFL it figures that the Pats may cover with ease.  More emphatically Buffalo has taken a big step back from 2017.

Buffalo Bills

Buffalo is 2-5 straight up and 3-4 against the spread with five of their games going under the total.  Last week the Bills were destroyed at Indianapolis 37-5.  Buffalo ranks dead last in the NFL for scoring offense.  Counter to that is a respectable defense that ranks 16th in the NFL for points allowed.  Quarterbacking has been a disaster for the Bills.  Specifically, injured Josh Allen had a weak 61.8 rating.  Following that his replacement Derek Anderson has a 39.8 rating with zero touchdowns and three interceptions.

New England Patriots

New England is 5-2 straight up and 4-3 against the spread with four games clearing the total.  So too have the Patriots won four in a row with three payouts.  Last time out New England scored a 38-31 win and cover at Chicago.  On the whole the Pats rank fourth in the NFL for scoring offense but 25th for total defense.  Quarterback Tom Brady has a 99.7 rating with 16 touchdowns and seven interceptions.

Stats to Consider

New England has been a highly profitable NFL betting value as a road favorite recently.  For example, the Patriots have paid in 12 out of their last 17 games laying points on the road.  Four of their last six in that role have gone under the total.  Balanced against that is Buffalo’s depleted board value as a home dog as of late.  The Bills have failed to get the money in five of their last seven getting points at New Era Field.  Further, Buffalo has gone over the total in six of their last eight as pups at home.

Team vs. Team

New England has had the offshore betting advantage in their head to head series with Buffalo.  In fact, the Bills have covered the spread just once in their last six games against the Patriots.  Three of the last four between these teams have gone under the total.  Most important of all is the Patriots strong board value at New Era Stadium.  Indeed, the Pats have ruled the cashier’s cage there with just two spread losses in their last 14 visits to Buffalo.

Matchup to Watch

Certainly, Buffalo is outclassed in this NFL betting matchup.  While New England has a questionable defense, the Bills lack the weaponry to take advantage.  In view of the Patriots dominance at Buffalo there is really no other choice.
