AFC Wild Card Playoff Odds: Chargers vs. Ravens Sportsbook Predictions

Los Angeles Chargers vs. Baltimore Ravens - Wild Card best bets

At the beginning of the season it was made clear to John Harbaugh to make the playoffs or else.  The Baltimore coach sat on one of the NFL’s hottest seats.  Yet Harbaugh engineered an NFC North Division championship.  Harbaugh showed courage in benching quarterback Joe Flacco.  Concurrently replacement Lamar Jackson proved to be a bet on NFL asset.  At the same time the Los Angeles Chargers were ignored to start 2018.  In contrast LA clearly exceeded expectations with a profitable and winning campaign.  The Chargers proved to be one of the NFL’s most complete teams.

Chargers vs. Ravens TV Coverage:  CBS

Los Angeles has a bet on NFL record of 12-4 straight up, 9-7 vs. the spread, and 8-8 on totals.  As a result, the Chargers lost a tie breaker with the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC West.  In view of that they ended up as a wild card team forced to play on the road despite their great record.  LA ranks sixth in the NFL for scoring offense and eight for points allowed.  In just his second season on the job Anthony Lynn has moved into the upper echelon of head coaches.  Fashion his already strong offensive reputation.

Baltimore Ravens

Baltimore has an offshore bookmaker record of 10-6 straight up, 8-8 against the odds, and 7-9 under the total.  While a 4-5 start had Harbaugh looking as good as dead the Ravens rallied after tabbing Lamar Jackson to replace Flacco at quarterback.  The rookie and former Heisman Trophy winner added the scrambling and mobility factor that Flacco lacked.  But it was defense that proved to be the real reason for the playoff season.  To illuminate the Ravens ranked first overall and second for points allowed.  Gus Edwards powered to 5.2 yards per carry to lead the second ranked ground attack.

Los Angeles Chargers

Overall the Chargers have been a highly profitable road team.  Consider their seven payouts in their last 10 as pups away from home.  Four of their last five in that situation have gone over the total.  By contrast the Ravens have paid in just one of their last six laying points at home.  Three of their last four in that role have gone over the total.

Stats to Consider

Not withstanding Baltimore’s 22-10 payout at the Chargers on December 22 this has been a fairly even matchup.  To show, the Ravens have covered four of the last seven meetings in this head to head series.  Five of the last seven between these teams went over the number.  In fact, LA has covered their last two visits to Baltimore.  Both of those games went over the total.

Matchup to Watch

This Bet on NFL Matchup advantage comes down to LA quarterback Philip Rivers.  While both teams have good defenses, Rivers separates the game with a 105.5 rating and 32 touchdown passes.  Additionally, Keenan Allen’s 1196 yards receiving on 97 catches is a reliable element.
