Following a second Super Bowl heartbreak to the Kansas City Chiefs in February 2024, the Niners were a future market favorite to return the following season. In turn, the 2024 season was an online wagering disaster.
The 49ers desperately need their two most recent draft classes to produce and make up for the many veteran departures this offseason. But they already took a hit with the loss of second-year safety Malik Mustapha. He is expected to miss the start of the season after sustaining a knee injury in last year’s finale.

By the 49ers, the cause was taken by Ricky Pearsall, and they re-signed Brandon Aiyuk and Jauan Jennings the prior offseason. In turn, the inexperienced players should get a boost from Trent Williams and Christian McCaffrey if they stay healthy this season.

Born in 1946 as members of the All-American Football Conference, the San Francisco 49ers have a rich history that has earned them a spot among the NFL’s legacy franchises.
In 1981, the 49ers forged their first dynasty. Bill Walsh led them to three Super Bowl championships from 1981 through 1988. And the team he built won another one under George Seifert the year after Walsh retired. Also, Seifert won the franchise’s final Super Bowl in 1994. San Francisco missed the playoffs only once, from 1983 through 1998. Since 2012, the 49ers have made three more Super Bowls, losing each time.
