West Virginia Mountaineers vs. Oklahoma State Cowboys

West Virginia has their elusive breakout season in grasp. Following their move to the Big 12 Conference the Mountaineers have yet to fully break through.  But this year they control their own NCAA Football betting destiny for a shot at the Big 12 championship, at the very least.  Now this week the Mounties are at wounded but dangerous Oklahoma State.  On the whole the Cowboys have been a disappointment.  But OSU proved last week just how capable they can be in a close call loss at Oklahoma.  The Pokes lost at the end on a failed two-point conversion.

Oklahoma State Cowboys

Oklahoma State is 5-5 both straight up and against the spread with a 6-4 mark over the total.  Last week the Cowboys lost at Oklahoma 48-47 but earned a lot of respect for going toe to toe with a bona fide playoff contender.  Overall Okie State ranks 11th in the country for total offense but 94th for points allowed.  Quarterback Taylor Cornelius is lighting up the scoreboard.  So far Cornelius has a 151.6 rating with 23 touchdowns and eight interceptions.  An interesting side note is that Mounties coach Dana Holgorsen was the Pokes offensive coordinator before coaching WVU.

West Virginia Mountaineers

West Virginia is 8-1 straight up and 6-2-1 vs. the odds with a 5-4 mark on totals.  Last week the Mounties destroyed TCU in a 47-10 home payout.  It was the third consecutive win for West Virginia.  The Mounties rank 10th in the nation for scoring offense.  In the same way their much improved defense ranks 24th for points allowed.

Stats to Consider

West Virginia has been in the red as a NCAA Football Betting road favorite play.  To show the Mounties have covered just two of their last six laying points away from home.  Five of their last seven as away chalks have gone over the total.  Contrarily Oklahoma State has proven to be a dangerous home dog.  The Pokes have covered their last three games getting points at Boone Pickens Stadium.  Two of those three games also went under the total.

Team vs. Team

Oklahoma State has had the recent Online wagering advantage in their series with West Virginia.  For example, the Pokes have won and covered three in a row against the Mounties.  Four of the last five between these teams went under the total.  And at Boone Pickens Stadium the Cowboys have paid in two of their last three with West Virginia.  The last two meetings in this series at OSU have gone under the total.

Matchup to Watch

Certainly West Virginia quarterback Will Grier is usually a NCAA Football Betting matchup advantage.  In fact, Grier has a 180.7 rating with 31 touchdowns and eight interceptions.  As mentioned earlier Cornelius is strong in his own right.  And OSU has the matchup trend value advantage.  It follows that the Football Gods may owe the Pokes a break too.

West Virginia vs. Oklahoma State NCAA Football Betting

On the whole this is a dangerous trap for the Mounties against a team that has their number.
