Tide Rolls Out New Staff for 2019 College Football Betting Success

2019 Alabama Crimson Tide Futures Betting Analysis

A clear difference will be seen on the Alabama coaching staff for the 2019 season. Clemson’s 44-16 annihilation of the Crimson Tide in the national championship game sparked change. Head coach Nick Saban now concedes that the staff from last year were not good tacticians. While the staff were outstanding recruiters, they were exposed in that College Football betting loss to Clemson. Clearly, Dabo Swinney and his staff got the better of Saban and the Tide coaches when it came to tactics. As a result, Saban is still seething from the perception of being outcoached by Swinney.

2018 Alabama Crimson Tide Review

Now let’s not shed too many tears over Alabama as they remain one of the nation’s two superpowers. Alabama posted a College Football Betting record of 14-1 straight up and 8-7 against the spread last year. Only five of their games went under the total. Overall, Alabama ranked sixth in the nation for total offense and third for scoring. Defensively the Tide “slipped” to 16th in the nation overall and 12th for points allowed. Of great concern is that the loss to Clemson was the only time Alabama lost to a team by more than 14 points under Saban.

Staff Changes

Consider that the top three offensive coaches from last year moved on. First, offensive coordinator Mike Locksley is the head coach of Maryland. Dan Enos snuck out off to Miami without telling Saban. And Josh Gattis has the keys of Michigan’s offense. Defensive coordinator Tosh Lupoi went on to Cleveland of the NFL. In turn, Steve Sarkisian will take over the offense. Former Rutgers head coach Kyle Flood will coach the offensive line. Pete Golding and Charles Kelly will share defensive coordinator responsibilities. In particular, the Locksley offense flopped badly in the loss to Clemson.

Tua

Consequently, the second-year starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa will have a fresh approach for 2019. Tua posted a 202.3 QB rating in 2018 with a 37/4 TD/INT ratio. However, he slipped some down the stretch. He was injured in the SEC title game against Georgia after not playing well. As a result, backup Jalen Hurts came off the bench to bail out the Tide with a comeback online betting win. In the national championship game, Tagovailoa was far below par with a 145.2 QB rating and 2/2 TD/INT ratio. Most important of all Tua was proven to be fallible.

Depleted Defense?

Of major concern is how the NFL raids on Alabama defensive personnel are having a negative College Football Betting affect. Quinnen Williams, Mack Wilson, and Deionte Thompson are the top departures. Clemson lit the Tide up for 482 yards in the title game. For this reason, those personnel gaps are another worry heading into the season.
