Texas Longhorns vs. Oklahoma State Cowboys Betting Odds & Preview

Texas Longhorns vs. Oklahoma State Cowboys

On the whole Oklahoma State has been a respected Betting on NCAA Football value in recent years.  Head coach Mike Gundy has been the most successful Cowboy coach in history.  But this year the Pokes have become sloppy underachievers.  Specifically, OSU is not living up to the expectations of fans and gamblers. Conversely Texas is enjoying the opposite effect for the 2018 season.  The surging Longhorns are exceeding expectations.  Compared to last year Texas has emerged as a top Big 12 Conference title contender.  However, their metrics indicate a potential slide down the stretch.

Texas Longhorns

Texas has a Betting on NCAA Football record of 6-1 straight up but just 3-4 against the spread.  In the same way the Longhorns have gone under the total four times.  Texas is coming off a bye that followed a 23-17 win over Baylor as 14-point home overlays.  Of major concern to gamblers are the Texas national rankings.  To illustrate the Horns are 56th in the nation for scoring offense and 45th for scoring defense.  Quarterback Sam Ehlinger has an impressive 11 touchdown passes with just two interceptions.

Oklahoma State Cowboys

Oklahoma State has a disappointing record of 4-3 straight up and 3-4 vs. the line.  In turn the Cowboys have gone over the total in four of their seven tilts.  OSU is also coming off a bye week that followed a bad 31-12 loss at Kansas State.  While the Pokes rank 16th for scoring offense their defense is 78th for points allowed.

Stats to Consider

Texas has been a reliable Offshore bookmaker play as a road favorite as of late.  Consider the Longhorns record of three payouts in their last five games laying points on the road.  Nine of their last ten in that role have also gone under the total.  Counter to that is Oklahoma State’s recent success as a home dog.  For example, the Pokes have paid in three of their last five when getting points at Boone Pickens Stadium.  Three of those five games went over the total.  Quarterback Taylor Cornelius has thrown eight interceptions to go with 16 touchdowns.

Team vs Team

Head to head the Longhorns have covered three of their last eight meetings with the Cowboys.  Additionally, four of the last five in this series have gone under the total.  Balanced against that is Oklahoma State’s lack of betting value at home in this series.  To show, the Pokes have paid in just two of their last nine home games with the Longhorns.  Six of the last seven in this series at Okie State have gone over the total.

Matchup to Watch

In the first place Oklahoma State has underachieved.  At the same time their offense should prove to be a Betting on NCAA Football advantage.  Encompassing their superior scoring ability makes the Pokes a dangerous and live home dog Saturday night.
