Stanford Cardinal vs. Duke Blue Devils NCAAF Betting Preview (09/19/2026)

SBGGlobal.eu » College Pro Football Betting Lines Online » Stanford Cardinal vs. Duke Blue Devils NCAAF Betting Preview (09/19/2026)

Duke opens ACC play at home Saturday against a Stanford team that is still recovering from a 45-6 loss to Miami. To illustrate, the Blue Devils are 2-0 after beating Tulane and then winning 31-27 at Illinois. Stanford is 1-1 after a 37-27 College Football Odds win over Hawaii in Week 0 and that lopsided home loss to the Hurricanes. This is the first meeting between the programs since 2012.

So far, Duke has been more physical than explosive, leaning on the run and winning close games. Stanford showed it can score against Hawaii and then got overwhelmed by a better roster.

Duke will try to stay on schedule and make Stanford beat them through the air. Especially after the Cardinal’s passing game stalled against Miami. Stanford will try to keep the game within a score and turn the first road trip of the Tavita Pritchard era into a grind.

Overall, the College Football Betting setting favors Duke. The question is whether Stanford’s extra rest and the long trip east flatten the gap. Or whether the Blue Devils simply look like the better team again.

Stanford Cardinal vs. Duke Blue Devils Matchup Analysis

Duke’s edge is the run game and the venue. Namely, Nate Sheppard has been productive. And the Blue Devils have won two close games by staying on the ground. They are making opponents beat them through the air. Stanford just got pushed around by Miami. Now they’ll play their first road game of the season after a bye. And it is a long trip from the West Coast to Durham. That combination usually favors the home team with an established physical identity.

Previously, Stanford’s offense showed it can move the ball against Hawaii. Then disappeared against a real defense. Davis Warren put up yards without much scoring against Miami. If the Cardinal can establish something on the ground with Micah Ford and stay out of obvious passing downs, they can keep this a one-score game. However, if they fall behind and have to throw, Duke’s defense has been good enough to close games out.

The 9-and-a-half-point spread sits right at the edge of what a decent home favorite should be against a team coming off a blowout. Of course, Duke has covered both games. Stanford is 1-1 against the number.

The Blue Devils do not need to look pretty. Instead, they need to run the ball and protect the football. If Duke starts fast, the number looks light. If Stanford hangs around into the fourth quarter the way Illinois did, the underdog has a path. Still, the matchup on paper is Duke’s to control at home. The only real question is how much of that control they use after a short week following the Illinois trip.

It is true that Stanford’s extra rest after a bye helps some. But not enough to erase a 39-point loss and a cross-country trip. The lean is Duke minus the points if they stay physical and keep Stanford from turning it into a track meet.

Finally, scoring has been modest for both. Duke is averaging 24 points. Stanford scored 37 on Hawaii and 6 on Miami. If this stays a possession game like Duke’s first two, the total should sit under.

SBG Best Bet: Duke Blue Devils and Under the Total.
