SEC Network Features LSU vs. Florida on Wednesday Night

LSU Tigers vs. Florida Gators

The Florida Gators have used their solid offensive ability to become one of the top four teams in the Southeastern Conference.  Florida is a bubble team in NCAA Basketball championship odd numbers for March Madness however and needs a strong run down the stretch.  The LSU Tigers have been a big disappointment that is currently mired in a major slump against the spread.  LSU is soft on defense and inconsistent on offense which has made for a lot of red ink.  Florida hosts LSU on Wednesday.

Tigers vs. Gators TV Coverage: SEC Network

Tigers

The LSU Tigers have a record of 13-9 straight up and 10-9 against the spread.  The Bayou Bengals have a Southeastern Conference mark of just 4-6 straight up and they are not a real threat vs. the NCAA Basketball championship odd numbers.  With just two NCAA Big Dance bids since 2007 the LSU Tigers basketball program is in one of its worst eras since the legendary Dale Brown took over the program in 1972.  Will Wade arrived this season from Virginia Commonwealth to take over the program after posting back to back March Madness seasons.

As a native of Tennessee Wade does have familiarity with the region and the SEC.  That being said he may not have fully realized the mess that he walked into.  In their last seven games LSU has covered the spread just twice.  The over has hit in their last five consecutive games.  In their last game the Tigers scored a 94-86 home payout over Arkansas.  Wade has a decent offensive team that ranks 69th overall in the country.  That is offset by a defense that ranks an abysmal 223rd.

Gators

The Florida Gators are 15-8 straight up and 11-11 against the spread.  At home the Gators have paid out in just five out of 12 games.  In their last four games UF has just one payout.  Under the total has hit in five out of their last seven games.  Head coach Mike White’s team is coming off a 68-50 home loss to Alabama as 7.5 point chalks in their worst performance of the season.  After an Elite Eight finish last year White has a team on the post season brink with little margin for error.

Team vs. Team

In the last five meetings in this head to head series the Gators have covered at the sportsbook three times against LSU.  The Tigers and Gators have gone over the total in 10 out of their last 13 meetings.  At home the Gators have paid out in six out of their last ten home games against LSU.  Three out of the last four games at Florida between the Gators and Tigers have gone over the total.

Matchup to Watch

The LSU Tigers offer nothing as far as being an NCAA Basketball championship odd commodity with any appeal.  A bad defense is not an appealing sell for a team in a conference road game.  Florida has not been a great value on the board either but does boast the asset of a competent offense.
