Poinsettia Bowl: Utah State vs. NO. Illinios

On Thursday, December 26th 2013, the day after Christmas we are presented with the Poinsettia Bowl Game which comes to us courtesy of the San Diego Credit Union and he game is played at the Qualcomm Stadium (66,000 capacity) in San Diego California.  The teams traveling to San Diego for this Bowl game are Utah State AGGIES (8-5, 7-1 Mountain West matched up with the #23 Northern Illinois HUSKIES (12-1, 8-0 Mid-American) with kick-off for this game set for 9:30 pm ET and on ESPN TV.

If you Bet on College football you will enjoy this game and the odds at the Sportbook will be the best method for you to make your picks the day after Christmas. Both these teams are traveling to San Diego before Christmas.  The NIU Huskies come into this Poinsettia Bowl game with only one loss for the season which was to Bowling Green in the MAC Title game thus this bowl is their consolation prize, but be assured this Huskie team is entering this Bowl game still very highly motivated, as their coach say “We still have a lot to play for.”

It’s best the Huskies keep that attitude as the Aggies have won five of their past 6 games and they feature a very tight defensive unit that does not permit a lot of yardage.  On the other hand the Utah State team has not faced a player of the stature of the Huskies QB Lynch who is the nation’s second leading rusher with 45 TD’s by air and ground.  He only needs 119 yards rushing in this game to become the 1st NCAA player in history to pass and rush for 2000 yard in the same year.  If the Huskies win this Bowl game it will be their third bowl victory since 2010.

At SBG Global the Utah State Aggies are the underdogs at +1 ½ with the total at 58 and the money line +105.  The Aggies have had a string of bad luck with their quarterbacks this season and starting in this game will be third stringer Harrison.  The team’s offense is stable but they are known for their stingy defense which ranks 12th in the nation in total defense and in the top ten against the opponents running game. If the Aggies can hold down the Huskies QB Lynch and his running yardage they will have a good chance to win this bowl game.  If not, well we will have to wait and see?  Good Luck Aggies and Huskies!
