Penn State at Illinois College Football Betting

College football betting favors Penn State on the road at Illinois on Saturday in an ABC televised contest. Penn State proved again last week that they are not a national title contender as they lost at home to Iowa.  The Nittany Lions dropped to #15 in the polls but they are still road favorites in NCAA football betting at Illinois. College football betting has Penn State as a 7 point favorite with a total of 45.5.  The Nittany Lions won their first three games of the college football betting season even though they didn’t always cover the spread.

Last week against Iowa they did neither.  The offense last week was poor in a 21-10 NCAA football betting loss.  They had just 307 total yards and turned it over four times. “I think we will learn from it,” coach Joe Paterno said. If that sounds familiar it is a common theme from Penn State’s head coach.  Paterno should have been forced to retire a decade ago but is still on the sidelines.  He has a typical Penn State quarterback that makes mistakes.  Darryl Clark has nine TDs this season but also six interceptions as college football betting stats show.

Penn State should matchup better against Illinois in college football betting since the Illini are 1-2 on the season and they are giving up 28 points per game.  Penn State may be able to put some points on the board in this NCAA football betting game.  The defense for Penn State has been decent and they may be able to slow down Illinois in college football betting.  The defense could definitely use Sean Lee who was out last week due to a knee injury.  Penn State will try and contain Illinois quarterback Juice Williams who has had his problems just like Clark has.

Penn State has the 13-3 all-time advantage in the series against Illinois.  Last college football betting season it was Penn State winning 38-24.  Illinois has lost 26 of 29 college football betting meetings with ranked teams.

Penn State has been decent in college football betting as a road favorite as they are 4-1-1 ATS in their last 6 games as a road favorite.   The problem for those that are taking the Nittany Lions in college football betting is that Penn State is 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games overall.

Illinois is no better in college football betting.  They are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 home games. They are 1-4 in NCAA football betting in their last 5 conference games.
